Full job description
Families buy college advising packages from AIM Learning Center. We need experienced advisors to deliver them. We handle marketing, enrollment, and billing. You do the advising.
This role is remote, with in-person options in San Antonio and Austin.
ABOUT AIM
AIM Learning Center is the tutoring, evaluation, and college advising division of Assessment Intervention Management (AIM), a Texas company that also provides special education services to public school districts. Our advising clients are families in San Antonio and Austin. Packages range from single services to multi-year plans that start early in high school.
HOW IT WORKS
-
A family buys a college advising package from AIM.
-
The client goes into our advisor pool with the package details.
-
You accept the clients that fit your expertise and availability.
-
You deliver everything the package includes and log your work in our advising platform.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
-
Kickoff with each family to set goals, timeline, and package scope.
-
College list building based on academics, interests, budget, and fit.
-
Essay coaching from brainstorm to final draft.
-
Application strategy and review for Common App, ApplyTexas, and school portals.
-
Guidance on the financial aid and scholarship process. Advisors do not fill out or submit FAFSA or CSS Profile forms for families.
-
Course and activity planning for younger students on multi-year packages.
-
Regular updates to parents and session notes in our platform.
Not every package includes every item. You deliver what the family bought.
WHAT'S HARD
Fall is heavy. Most application work lands between August and January, and deadlines don't move. Families are paying for a premium service and expect quick replies. Most sessions happen after school, in the evening, or on weekends.
REQUIRED
-
At least 2 years advising high school students on college admissions as a school counselor, admissions officer, or independent educational consultant.
-
Has guided students through full application cycles, from college list to submission.

Able to pass a background check.

Admissions experience with Texas public universities or selective private colleges.

-
Experience supporting students with IEPs, 504 plans, or learning differences through the college process.
-
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
PAY AND TERMS
-
Independent contractor (1099).
-
Paid per package.
-
You choose your caseload. Take on as many clients as you can serve well.
-
Access to AIM's advising platform, project management tools, and resource library.
