Title Tenure-Track Professor in Biodiversity, Conservation, or Land Surface Processes

School Faculty of Arts and Sciences

Department/Area The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, The Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, and The Department Human Evolutionary Biology

Position Description

The Departments of Earth and Planetary Science, Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, and Human Evolutionary Biology seek to appoint a tenure-track professor who conducts foundational research in the broadly defined areas of biodiversity, conservation, and/or land surface processes using remote sensing, AI and other advanced techniques. Candidates in allied disciplines, or who are engaged in cross-disciplinary research, are encouraged. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2027. We seek an outstanding individual who will establish an innovative research program and teach both undergraduate and graduate students.

In Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences, tenure-track positions are untenured.

Basic Qualifications

A doctorate or terminal degree in a field of science related to land surface processes, biodiversity, conservation or related disciplines is required by the time the appointment begins.

Additional Qualifications

Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching and advising is desired.

Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is considered complete only when at least three letters have been received. At least one letter must come from someone who has not served as the candidate’s undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral advisor.

Salary Range

$110,000 – $165,000

Pay offered to the selected candidate is dependent on factors such as years of experience, training or qualification, field of scholarship, and accomplishments in the field.
