Position Description

The Department of Statistics in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences ( FAS ) of Harvard University seeks to appoint a tenure-track professor in Statistics in the area of statistics and AI, with an expected start date of July 1, 2027. We seek outstanding candidates whose research advances the interface of statistics and AI, from foundational and methodological developments to integrated theoretical and applied approaches to trustworthy AI-enabled discovery. The tenure-track professor will contribute to teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

In Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences, tenure-track positions are untenured.

Basic Qualifications

A doctorate or terminal degree in statistics or a related discipline is required by the time the appointment begins.

Additional Qualifications

Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching and advising is desired.

  6. Names and contact information of 3 to 5 references who will be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation once a candidate’s application has been submitted. Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is considered complete only when at least 3 letters have been received. At least one letter must come from someone who has not served as the candidate’s undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral advisor.

  7. Publications, if applicable

If visa sponsorship is needed, Harvard retains the discretion to determine which visa status is appropriate and whether a visa sponsorship application will ultimately be submitted, including payment of any applicable fees.

Salary Range
