Position Description

The Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences ( SEAS ) seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Computer Science, with an expected start date of July 1, 2027. We invite applicants bridging AI with other areas of Computer Science.

AI at the Kempner Institute: In addition, Computer Science faculty have opportunities to engage with the Kempner Institute for the Study of Natural and Artificial Intelligence, a multidisciplinary research community at Harvard working at the frontiers of AI and intelligence research. Appointment as a Kempner Institute Investigator may be available for candidates whose research aligns with the Institute’s mission. Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree in Computer Science or related discipline required by the time the appointment begins.

Additional Qualifications

We seek candidates who have a strong research record and a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, training, and advising. The successful candidate will teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Teaching/advising statement (describing your philosophy and practices as well as your approach to creating a learning environment in which students are encouraged to ask questions and share their ideas)

  • Research statement

  • Service Statement (describing your efforts to strengthen academic communities, e.g., your department, institution, and/or professional societies)

  • Names and contact information of 3-5 referees, who will be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation once the candidate’s application has been submitted. Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is considered complete only when at least three letters have been received. At least one letter must come from someone who has not served as the candidate’s undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral advisor.

If visa sponsorship is needed, Harvard retains the discretion to determine which visa status is appropriate and whether a visa sponsorship application will ultimately be submitted, including payment of any applicable fees.

Salary Range

$140,700-$174,500 for tenure-track rank.

Pay offered to the selected candidate is dependent on factors such as experience, training or qualifications, field of scholarship, and accomplishments in the field.
