Job Summary
This position will support the Steam Generator Replacement Program at Beaver Valley Nuclear providing technical leadership for implementation and continuous improvement of the station Radiation Protection and ALARA Programs. Leads radiological work planning, evaluates radiological risk, develops dose reduction strategies, resolves complex radiological issues, and provides technical direction to Radiation Protection personnel and station work groups.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
-
Lead development of ALARA plans, dose estimates, and radiological work evaluations.
-
Direct review of work packages and establish radiological controls and dose reduction strategies.
-
Lead ALARA reviews, pre-job briefs, field execution, and post-job critiques for complex work.
-
Evaluate and recommend shielding, engineering controls, remote tooling, mockups, decontamination, and work sequencing.
-
Monitor job performance against dose estimates and direct improvement actions.
-
Evaluate changing radiological conditions and direct revisions to radiological controls.
-
Provide technical leadership and field oversight during complex or elevated-risk radiological work.

Provide technical direction, coaching, and mentoring to RP personnel and station work groups.

Lead resolution and evaluation of complex radiological problems and events.
-
Analyze RP/ALARA performance trends and drive corrective actions.
-
Lead development and improvement of RP and ALARA procedures and work practices.
-
Lead source term reduction initiatives with Radiation Protection and Chemistry.
-
Evaluate operating experience, fleet lessons learned, and industry events for applicability.
-
Benchmark industry practices and lead implementation of station and fleet improvements.
-
Support and provide technical leadership during station, fleet, NRC, and INPO assessments.
-
Provide RP leadership with complex or emergent radiological issues.
-
Coordinate with station organizations to integrate radiological risk into work planning and execution.
-
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Health Physics, Radiation Protection, Nuclear Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
-
5–10 years commercial nuclear Radiation Protection and/or ALARA experience.
-
Demonstrated experience leading complex radiological work planning and ALARA initiatives.
-
Advanced knowledge of 10 CFR 20, NRC requirements, and industry RP practices.
-
Demonstrated ability to lead complex radiological work planning.
-
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
