Summary

This position is located in the Division of Complex Institution Supervision and Resolution (CISR), of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and is responsible for reviewing risks related to large financial institutions, which include insured banks, bank holding companies, and other systemically important non-bank financial institutions in the CISR supervisory portfolio. The duty location is determined upon selection.

Duties

Serves as an onsite contact, and often as the FDIC's primary contact, for the largest, most complex, or high-risk financial institutions in the CISR supervisory portfolio. Develops, manages, and strengthens cooperative relationships. Leads in monitoring, analyzing, and assessing the most complex risks related to LCFIs, which include insured banks, bank holding companies, and other global systemically important banks (GSIBs), to evaluate the appropriateness of deposit insurance pricing and resolution considerations. Leads the development of an annual supervisory and resolution strategy document for the assigned financial institution incorporating back-up supervision areas and CISR resolution planning reviews. Analyzes and ensures the appropriateness of all large insured depository institution ratings under the Uniform Financial Institution Rating System, by independently identifying, compiling and organizing relevant data to analyze and draw sound conclusions related to complex LCFI work assignments. Provides clearly written and oral analyses for senior executives related to current and emerging risks and recommends corrective action where appropriate. Coordinates and communicates complex project assignments and expectations to participating team members; assists the Section Chief in developing and delivering training to enhance team proficiency and consistency. Mentors CFI Specialists and less seasoned staff as needed to ensure consistent application of risk assessment methodologies, while reviewing complex work prepared by peers and providing constructive recommendations to ensure accuracy, completeness and adherence to standards. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. CG-15: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 14 grade level or above in the Federal service, analyzing financial risks and controls; developing written reports and communicating findings for financial institutions; experience must include work experience in three or more of following areas: credit risk, trading, foreign exposures, liquidity risk, interest rate risk, earnings performance issues, capital adequacy, and operational risk. If selected, you may be required to serve a probationary or trial period as applicable to appointment type. The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rates for these duty locations range from a low of 17.06% to a high of 40.07%.
