Description

Amazon Foundational Security Services (AFSS) builds and operates the foundational security capabilities that protect Amazon’s corporate and customer data across its global cloud environment. We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive complex, cross-organizational security programs end to end, improving the security posture of Amazon’s cloud environments and the identity and access controls that govern them.

In this role you will be the single-threaded owner of large, cross-functional security initiatives. You will define the program, build and maintain the plan, and drive many independent teams toward committed outcomes; coordinating the work to bring environments under consistent, centrally governed security controls, and partnering with other organizations where initiatives are shared. You will operate with limited guidance within a large organization, influence system owners and architectural decisions, escalate effectively when work is blocked, and keep leadership continuously informed with an accurate, defensible view of progress.

This is not a program-support role. You will set the plan, hold partner teams accountable to committed dates, and bring the mitigation plan rather than the problem when an initiative is at risk.

Key job responsibilities

You will own cross-organizational security programs spanning the identification, prioritization, and remediation of risks across a large and varied cloud environment. The work requires sustained coordination with many engineering teams and system owners across the company, as well as partner organizations.

  • Program ownership. Own one or more large, complex security programs end to end; defining the plan, maintaining an accurate inventory of in-scope systems and their status, prioritizing work, and driving each item to a well-defined end state.

  • Migration & remediation coordination. Coordinate the technical effort to bring cloud environments under consistent, centrally governed security and identity controls; including migrations onto standardized platforms and the safe deprecation of systems that are no longer needed, or to secure environments in place where migration is not feasible.

  • Driving owners & escalation. Drive many independent system owners toward committed outcomes; own the escalation path for work that is blocked or lacks a clear owner, bringing crisp, data-backed escalations to senior leadership with a recommended path forward.

  • Cross-organization partnership. Partner with other organizations on shared initiatives, aligning on requirements, dependencies, and readiness across teams.

  • Status tracking & leadership reporting. Produce clear program status and leadership updates; keep every milestone, dependency, and date accurate and defensible, and reflect changes promptly with a clear reason.
