Job Title: Maintenance Helper Job Description
Join a growing maintenance team supporting a liquid propane gas operation on second shift, where you will assist an experienced maintenance technician with mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and production support in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
Responsibilities

Assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues on production and conveyor equipment.

Support troubleshooting of basic electrical issues under the guidance of an experienced technician.

Read and interpret prints and basic technical documentation to support maintenance activities.

Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as inspections, lubrication, and minor adjustments on machinery.

Assist with pneumatic and hydraulic system checks, repairs, and component replacements as directed.

Support the production team with equipment changeovers, setups, and general maintenance needs.

Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, following all safety procedures and guidelines.

Communicate clearly with the maintenance technician and production team about equipment status and issues.

Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn new systems, tools, and maintenance techniques.

Work outdoors or in open-air facilities in varying weather conditions while maintaining productivity.
Essential Skills
-
At least 1 year of mechanical experience in an industrial, construction, farming, or similar environment.

Mechanical aptitude with the ability to use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Ability to assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues on industrial or conveyor equipment.

Basic understanding of electrical systems sufficient to assist with troubleshooting under supervision.

Ability to read and understand prints or basic technical drawings.
-
Experience or familiarity with pneumatics and hydraulics, including components and basic functions.

Understanding of preventative maintenance practices such as inspections, lubrication, and part replacement.

Motivation to learn and develop maintenance skills under the guidance of an experienced technician.

Comfort working outdoors and in environments that are not climate controlled.

Ability to work second shift hours, typically between 810 a.m. start and 57 p.m. end, depending on operational needs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Entry-level maintenance or conveyor experience is beneficial but not required.

Background in construction or farming is advantageous, especially for working in varied weather conditions.

Electrical understanding beyond basic concepts is a plus but not required.

Willingness to take on increased responsibility and grow into more senior maintenance responsibilities.

Work Environment
The role is based in a liquid propane gas facility with a covered building where large doors remain open, creating an open-air environment that feels like working outdoors. Temperatures vary significantly throughout the year, with very cold conditions in winter and very hot conditions in summer, and the facility is not climate controlled. The typical shift runs from approximately 810 a.m. to 57 p.m., depending on operational needs. You will work closely with a small team consisting of around 12 production workers and 1 maintenance technician, using standard maintenance tools and equipment to support production operations in a hands-on, industrial setting. Appropriate work attire suitable for outdoor-like conditions and varying temperatures is expected.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Centralia, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.20 - $42.20/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
