Position Title: BUSINESS UNIT MANAGER

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000

Pay Grade: 15

Other Forms of Compensation: BONUS

Job Summary

The Business Unit Manager is the senior operational leader responsible for the overall management, compliance, financial performance, and client satisfaction of integrated facilities services at a regulated life sciences manufacturing campus. This role provides leadership for Office Services, Shipping & Receiving, Hazardous Materials Shipping, Regulated Logistics, Mailroom Operations, Housekeeping, Workplace Services, Pest Control, and Vendor Management programs. The Business Unit Manager ensures all services are delivered safely, compliantly, and in alignment with ESFM, Compass Group, client, Quality Assurance (QA), Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and regulatory requirements. Quality Assurance is a foundational expectation of the role and is critical to ensuring contract compliance, audit readiness, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

The leader is responsible for overall ESFM operations at a pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences manufacturing site, with accountability for:

  • Site operations and service delivery

  • Regulated logistics, shipping & receiving

  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program oversight

  • Housekeeping and facility services

  • Quality Assurance and audit readiness

  • EHS and regulatory compliance

  • Financial performance (P&L ownership)

  • Team leadership and talent development

  • Client relationship management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, Facilities Management, Business, or related field.

  • Minimum 7-10 years of leadership experience within life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Demonstrated experience leading regulated shipping, hazardous materials transportation, logistics operations, and business support services.

  • Strong experience managing Integrated Pest Management programs and vendor compliance.

  • Proven success managing large teams, vendor partnerships, and compliance-driven operations.

  • Strong understanding of GMP, GxP, Quality Systems, audit readiness, and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience managing P&L, budgets, labor planning, and financial performance.

  • Excellent verbal communication, presentation, relationship-building, and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, operational reporting systems, and quality management tools.
