Job Summary Provides advanced clinical nutrition expertise and comprehensive medical nutrition care to patients across the continuum of care. Responsibilities include conducting nutrition assessments, developing and implementing individualized nutrition care plans, providing dietary guidance and education, and supporting complex nutritional needs. The role also provides leadership and guidance to dietitians and nutrition professionals and contributes to the development of programs, policies, and practices that promote high-quality patient care.
Effective January 1, 2024, the minimum degree requirement for eligibility to take the registration examination for dietitians changed from a bachelor's degree to a graduate degree. All other didactic and supervised practice eligibility requirements remain unchanged. This degree requirement does not apply to Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) who were credentialed prior to January 1, 2024.

Essential Functions -Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments that consider medical history, clinical status, dietary patterns, nutritional needs, and individual goals. -Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans based on patients' medical conditions, nutritional needs, and preferences. -Monitor patients' nutritional status and response to interventions, adjusting nutrition plans as appropriate to support health, recovery, and overall well-being. -Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to dietitians and other nutrition professionals, fostering collaboration and high standards of practice. -Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to integrate nutrition care into overall treatment plans. -Contribute to the development and implementation of nutrition programs, policies, protocols, and evidence-based practices that promote consistent, high-quality care. -Serve as a clinical resource for complex nutrition-related needs and support the ongoing development of nutrition services and practice standards.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Dietetics required or Master's Degree in Dietetics required.
- Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted.
Licenses and Credentials
- Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
- Dietitian and Nutritionist state license required.
Experience
- 3–5 years of clinical dietitian experience working with diverse patient populations required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective critical thinking, evaluation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to educate, guide, and motivate patients across all age groups.
- Ability to apply clinical judgment and adapt nutrition interventions to meet diverse patient needs.
