Job Summary Provides comprehensive medical nutrition care to patients across the continuum of care. Responsibilities include nutrition assessment, development and implementation of individualized nutrition care plans, dietary modification, patient and family education, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team to support optimal nutritional outcomes.
Effective January 1, 2024, the minimum degree requirement for eligibility to take the registration examination for dietitians changed from a bachelor's degree to a graduate degree. All other didactic and supervised practice eligibility requirements remain unchanged. This degree requirement does not apply to Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) who were credentialed prior to January 1, 2024.

Essential Functions -Assess patients' nutritional needs using clinical data, medical orders, interdisciplinary care plans, and other relevant factors to develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans. -Document nutrition assessments, recommendations, interventions, follow-up, care plan updates, diet consultations, discharge planning, and other pertinent clinical information in accordance with established standards. -Educate and counsel patients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic diets, nutrition interventions, and strategies to support ongoing nutritional needs. -Collaborate with physicians, nurses, food service staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate appropriate nutrition care. -Work with food service staff to ensure meals, supplements, and nutrition support are provided according to patient needs and prescribed diets. -Review patient menu selections and provide guidance to support adherence to modified or therapeutic diets.
Qualifications
Education

Bachelor's Degree in a related field required or Master's Degree in a related field required.

Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted.
Licenses and Credentials

Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.

Dietitian and Nutritionist state license required.
Experience
- Completion of an accredited dietetic internship required.
