Full job description

About Zoox

At Zoox, we are developing the next generation of transportation. We are designing, from the ground up, a fully autonomous, zero-emissions vehicle, purpose-built for AI and our customers. Our mission is to make mobility-as-a-service safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable for everyone. About the Team

The Autonomy Development Platform (ADP) team is a group of Technical Product Managers. In partnership with engineering teams across Zoox, the team owns and builds the foundational tools that allow Zoox to define, validate, and scale driving excellence. Within ADP, our Environmental Foundation pillar defines where our vehicles drive and provides the ground truth of the world they drive in. Our Operational Design Domain (ODD) planning platform sits at the center of that mission. It is the single source of truth for where Zoox operates: the versioned, milestone-aligned Plan of Record for every city we drive in. It turns geography, road attributes, and operational policy into the driving areas our vehicles are cleared to operate in. Its outputs feed our production maps, safety validation, mileage accumulation, rider service areas, and data labeling. That puts the platform on the critical path for every software release and every new city launch. The Role

We are seeking a highly technical and strategic Technical Product Manager to own the product vision and roadmap for our ODD planning platform. Your primary customers are the Driving Behavior Technical Product Managers who define where we drive. You will also serve the Mapping, Safety, Data Science, and Program Management teams that depend on that definition.

Your mission is to keep every Plan of Record accurate, validated, and traceable, and to scale ODD planning to dozens of cities as Zoox expands.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role. You will balance milestone-critical operational needs with long-term platform investments, and hold a high-quality bar for a product where errors carry safety implications.

In this role, you will:

  • Product Strategy & Vision: Own the long-term vision and roadmap for the platform, aligned with Zoox Release milestones and city expansion plans. Evolve ODD control from manual, annotation-heavy workflows to scalable, policy-driven configuration.

  • ODD & Plan of Record Integrity: Define the validation gates, guardrails, and traceability that keep every Plan of Record consistent with the map it is applied to and with prior milestones. Partner with Safety and Data Science to set precision and recall bars for the road attributes that control our driving areas.

  • Customer-Obsessed Discovery: Partner deeply with Driving Behavior Technical Product Managers, Mapping, Safety, and Data Science to understand their end-to-end workflows. Turn operational pain points into step-change improvements in planning speed, data quality, and decision-making.

  • Flawless Execution: Drive the full product lifecycle. Author clear PRDs, manage prioritization and the backlog, and run alpha validation before features reach milestone workflows. Slice large, complex problems into incremental releases that deliver value early.

  • Engineering Partnership & Quality: Partner closely with engineering leadership to staff the roadmap, set release quality gates, and drive production regressions toward zero. Raise capacity and quality risks early, with data, before they impact milestones.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Serve as the central point of contact for ODD planning. Communicate roadmap, trade-offs, and status clearly to stakeholders and leadership, and say no with a better alternative when needed.

  • Measure What Matters: Define, track, and report KPIs such as adoption, Plan of Record accuracy, time saved, and platform performance. Use data to prove impact and shape strategy.

Qualifications

  • Technical Product Leadership: 5+ years of Technical Product Management experience, preferably on complex, data-heavy internal tools or enterprise-scale platforms.

  • Comfortable discussing system architecture and data models with senior engineers.

  • Data Quality Rigor: Proven track record defining validation, metrics, and quality bars for data that drives high-stakes decisions.

  • Prioritization & Execution: Proven ability to ship incremental value against clear priorities, balancing near-term milestone needs with the long-term roadmap and platform health.

  • Influence Without Authority: Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to build consensus across organizations, secure engineering investment, and drive clarity

Bonus Qualifications

  • Geospatial & Data Fluency: Deep technical fluency with geospatial data, road networks or map data models, APIs, and data pipelines.

  • Experience developing AI/ML, robotics, or autonomous vehicle products, particularly ODD definition, geofencing, or service area planning.

  • Hands-on experience with GIS tooling and spatial data (e.g., PostGIS, GeoJSON) and SQL-based analytics (e.g., Databricks).

  • Experience with automated data mining or ML-based attribute extraction at scale (e.g., vision-language models).

  • Experience leading delivery with distributed engineering teams across time zones.
