Position Description

As the District Controller, you will lead financial strategy, operational analysis, and business decision support across the district. The position partners closely with regional and unit leadership to evaluate performance trends, identify operational opportunities, and support actions that improve profitability, strengthen controls, and enhance client outcomes.

The role is responsible for comprehensive financial planning, reporting, forecasting, and analysis, while also translating operational data into practical insights for field leaders. The District Controller will support internal and client-facing discussions by preparing clear reporting, highlighting key risks and opportunities, and recommending actions that align financial objectives with operational execution.

Scope of Role

The District Controller is a key financial leader responsible for driving profitability through district-level financial planning, reporting, analysis, and operational support. This role supports district and unit leaders by reviewing P&L performance, labor and cost trends, cash flow, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, capital activity, and other operational drivers that influence financial results.

This position is remote-based, with travel 2-3 days a week to district sites required for internal meetings, business reviews, operational walkthroughs, client-facing meetings, audits, and other account-support needs. Site visits are intended to strengthen partnership with operations, improve visibility into financial and operational performance, and support timely issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial planning and analysis: Develop annual forecasts, budgets, projections, and reporting packages at both venue and unit levels, with a clear connection between financial results and operational performance drivers.

  • Provide district operational analysis support: Analyze sales, participation, labor, food cost, controllable expenses, cash trends, inventory, and other operating metrics to identify risks, opportunities, and recommended actions for district and unit leadership.

  • Drive financial accountability: Oversee cash flow, cash and banking, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, capital expenditures, and other key financial processes to support accurate results and strong internal controls.

  • Create financial reports and insights: Manage weekly, monthly, and annual reporting; convert financial and operational data into clear insights for corporate partners, regional leadership, operators, and clients as appropriate.

  • Support internal and client-facing meetings: Prepare financial summaries, business review materials, variance explanations, and operational insights for internal meetings, client reviews, and periodic on-site discussions.

  • Ensure compliance: Lead audits and ensure contract compliance, including cash, accounts payable, policy adherence, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance in partnership with internal auditors and operational leaders.

  • Develop and train teams: Support the financial development of finance and operations teams by reinforcing financial acumen, process discipline, reporting standards, and policy compliance.

  • Client communication: Partner with leadership on client communications related to systems, reporting, program changes, and financial performance, ensuring alignment with business and contractual objectives.

  • Support operations: Provide financial and operational guidance to unit leaders and work directly with the Regional leadership to support district goals, issue resolution, and performance improvement.

  • Drive growth: Develop pro formas, financial models, and decision-support analysis for new business, program changes, capital requests, and revenue growth opportunities.

  • Special projects: Lead regional and account-related initiatives as directed by Region Leadership, including process improvement, reporting standardization, and operational performance analysis projects.
