Full job description

We're looking for a Senior Accountant to help drive automation, transparency, and greater efficiency across Lemonade's financial operations. You'll sit within our Finance team, playing a key role in the month-end close process and the daily financial operations that keep the business running smoothly. This isn't a back-office role — you'll be an integral part of projects that help us scale, with real ownership over the processes you touch. We believe three things matter for every role at Lemonade: drive to push through challenges, efficiency that keeps standards high while moving fast, and adaptability that lets you pivot with data and AI insights. These aren't buzzwords, they're how we actually work. Our AI-first approach isn't just a tagline either. We're building the future of insurance with AI at the center, and we need people who are genuinely excited to learn and grow alongside these tools.

In this role you'll

  • Prepare and post journal entries and manage accrual schedules with accuracy and timeliness

  • Own monthly workbooks and take a leading role in key areas of the month and year-end close process

  • Manage balance sheet reconciliation schedules and perform P&L analytics that surface meaningful insights

  • Review supplier invoices and expense reports, keeping financial operations clean and compliant

  • Support cash-related transactions and broader financial operations processes

  • Drive quarterly and annual external audit requirements, acting as a reliable partner to auditors

What you'll need

  • 3-5 years of experience in public or private accounting, with a record of noteworthy accomplishments

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial statements

  • Solid experience working in a month-end close environment and owning processes start to finish

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Experience with Workday ERP is a plus

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Ready to work in an office environment most days of the week

Our competitive total rewards package includes comprehensive health & wellness coverage, equity, a 401(k) plan with employer match, 20 paid vacation days, and parental leave.
