Description

Job Description Summary:

This position is responsible for managing the month end close process including preparing journal entries, setting up fixed assets and running depreciation expense, and preparing balance sheet account reconciliations. This position is also responsible for preparing the monthly financial statements, assisting in the annual budget process, assisting in preparation of audit schedules and documentation for year-end financial statement audit, and providing other financial reporting.

Essential Functions:

Manage month end close process including preparing journal entries, setting up fixed assets and running depreciation expense, preparing monthly bank reconciliations, preparing balance sheet account reconciliations, and analysis of actual versus budget variances.

Prepare monthly financial statements including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows.

Prepare internal and external financial reporting requests including government reporting (i.e. Annual Survey of Manufacturers, Annual Business Survey for Research Activities at Non-Proft Organizations, etc.).

Prepare weekly cash reporting for Senior Management Team.

Maintain fixed asset detail reporting and reconcile to general ledger; Prepare actual versus capital budget reporting as needed.

Assist in preparation of annual budget including preparation of department budget input files and transfers budget data back and forth between Solution 7 and NetSuite.

Assist in preparation of audit schedules and documentation for year-end financial statement audit.

Set up new customers in NetSuite after reviewing all required documents and file documentation electronically.

Assist in research and implementation of NetSuite system enhancements and process improvements.

Works independently and has strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Adhere to all current organizational policies including Finance department policies and procedures and MDI Handbook.

Maintain highest levels of ethics and confidentiality.

Functions effectively in a fast paced, diverse, team environment.

Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others including wearing mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields or equivalent experience.

CPA and/or CMA preferred but not required.

Five or more years of related experience (manufacturing industry would be a +).

Strong knowledge of accounting software (NetSuite would be a +).

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated knowledge and abilities regarding GAAP and audit practices.

Satisfactory completion of a criminal background and credit check.

Verified eligibility for employment in the United States.

Environment and Physical Demands:

A traditional work week (M-F) with MDI core hours. Work during non-traditional hours periodically required.

Basic vision is required

Works in a typical office setting which includes;

Continuously sit, use of computer monitor, mouse, and keyboard, standard telephone, hearing and talking.

Occasionally lift, reach, rotate hands, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Occasionally works in a typical factory environment (high noise levels, machinery, conveyors, dust, chemicals, odors and temperature fluctuations.)

Other:

Some travel within the state, limited outside of state.
