At R1, we’re transforming how healthcare works by combining nearly two decades of revenue cycle expertise with advanced technology, including analytics, AI, intelligent automation and workflow orchestration. We pair that technology with the irreplaceable expertise of our people to help hospitals, health systems and medical groups improve financial performance, simplify administrative complexity and create better experiences for patients and providers.
All Together Better defines our culture and the way we work. We’re a diverse, global team united by a shared mission to make healthcare work better for all. Across technology, operations and support functions, our people bring deep expertise, empathy and ingenuity to the work we do. Here, collaboration fuels progress, adaptability sparks innovation and every voice can help shape what’s next for R1 and the future of healthcare.
As VP Data Integration (PhareOS), you will lead the strategy, planning, and execution of PhareOS integrations with customer electronic medical record (EMR) systems. This role is both highly strategic and operational, with accountability for evolving integration approaches, assessing new technologies and vendors, and advancing the team’s operating model.
You will also own the end-to-end delivery of high-quality, timely, and efficient customer integrations. The ideal candidate will be equally energized by working through ambiguity and pioneering new approaches as by leading a team through disciplined, high-performing execution. Strong client management and program management skills are essential.
Essential Responsibilities
-
Deliver timely, high-quality EMR integrations: Oversee the successful execution of all required inbound and outbound integrations with PhareOS customers. Own end-to-end data delivery, from communicating requirements through ingestion, mapping, validation, and go-live. Implement rigorous quality-control and error-handling processes, and establish, measure, and improve key data-delivery metrics.
-
Develop repeatable integration processes: Implement processes across discovery, development, and testing that improve data coverage and quality. Build repeatable approaches for integrating PhareOS product outputs into customer workflows. Continually reduce integration cycle time through tools, documentation, and process refinement, while fostering knowledge sharing and best-practice development across the team.
-
Innovate the integration approach: Assess the landscape of integration methods and provide thought leadership on potential new approaches. Scope and execute pilots, manage the portfolio of integration tools and vendors, and continuously improve that portfolio. Partner with Engineering and Product to scope enhancements to the data platform and adapt team processes to meet product integration requirements.
-
Build the right team: Organize the data integration team to support the volume, complexity, and diversity of PhareOS products and data. Recruit and mentor team members, elevate emerging leaders, and provide growth opportunities at all levels.
-
Plan and resource: Collaborate with the implementation team to anticipate demand, plan resources, and ensure coverage of all work. Manage integration vendors and their scopes of work.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
-
10+ years of progressive leadership experience managing complex healthcare data integrations.
-
5+ years in a senior leadership role managing people managers and scaling teams.
-
5+ years managing senior client stakeholders.
-
Hands-on experience with HL7 and FHIR.
-
Expertise in one or more mainstream interface engines.
-
Strong SQL skills.
-
Strong client management, communication, and program management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Hands-on experience with EDI data types.
-
Prior experience at an EMR or interoperability company.
-
Prior experience in revenue cycle.
-
Experience with Databricks.
