Project Manager – Heavy Civil / Underground Utilities Westwood, MA | Onsite | $120K–$140K+
We are partnering with an established, family-owned heavy civil contractor in the Greater Boston area to add an experienced Project Manager to their growing team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who already knows the underground utility and municipal construction world and is ready to take ownership of meaningful projects. The company has a strong backlog of work and is looking for a PM who can step in, work closely with field leadership, and manage projects from both the operational and financial side.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Manage heavy civil and municipal projects including water, sewer, drainage, roadway, pump station, utility, and sitework
- Own project budgets, cost forecasting, financial performance, and WIP reporting
- Maintain project schedules and review short-term look-ahead schedules with field teams
- Work closely with Superintendents to stay ahead of schedule, cost, and field issues
- Manage monthly billing, collections, change orders, and project documentation
- Coordinate submittals, subcontract agreements, vendors, engineers, and owners
- Attend project/progress meetings and maintain strong owner and client relationships
- Visit jobsites as needed to stay connected with field operations
- Manage projects ranging from approximately $5M–$30M+
What We’re Looking For:
- Ideally 5+ years of Project Management experience in heavy civil, underground utilities, or municipal construction
- Direct experience with water, sewer, drainage, roadway, utilities, or similar infrastructure work
- Experience managing municipal/public hard-bid projects
- Strong understanding of budgets, cost control, forecasting, scheduling, WIP, billing, and change orders
- Comfortable working directly with Superintendents, Foremen, owners, and engineers
- Able to understand what is happening in the field, not solely project administration
Software Experience with Primavera P6, Viewpoint Vista, Microsoft Office, and Excel is helpful, but direct industry experience is the priority.
Compensation & Benefits
- $120K–$140K+ base salary
- Bonus opportunity
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 401(k) with company match
- Company vehicle/fuel card
Schedule This is an onsite/in-office position in Westwood, MA, approximately 90% office / 10% field, with jobsite visits and progress meetings as needed. Typical hours are approximately 6:00 AM–4:00 PM.
