Full job description

Description

Amazon's Last Mile network delivers millions of packages to customers' doorsteps every day, and our Rural Super Rural (RSR) team takes on some of the most challenging delivery territory — longer routes, lower stop density, and greater distances between stops. We are looking for an Operations Manager to run an entire delivery station, owning everything from cost and budgeting to productivity, quality, and on-time delivery. In this role, you will operate as the general manager of your building, leading a team of exempt leaders and frontline associates while applying Lean continuous improvement methods to solve complex problems unique to rural logistics. Our RSR network is growing, and this is a great time to step into a leadership role where you can shape how we deliver for customers in some of the hardest-to-reach areas.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own building-level performance across cost, payroll, productivity, budgeting, quality control, and on-time delivery, using data and Lean continuous improvement methods to drive results.

  • Lead, hire, and develop exempt leadership and frontline associates, building a culture of accountability, continuous feedback, and professional growth across all shifts.

  • Drive safety as the top priority by modeling safe behaviors, conducting regular gemba walks, integrating safety into daily planning, and holding your leadership team accountable for improvements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Safety, Human Resources, Engineering, and Loss Prevention to develop and execute plans that meet building objectives and improve the associate experience.

  • Identify systemic operational issues through root cause analysis, develop solutions that account for upstream and downstream impacts, and implement scalable process improvements across the building.

A day in the life

You will start your day reviewing safety metrics and building performance with your leadership team, then set clear priorities for the shift ahead. From there, you will walk the floor to observe operations firsthand, coach managers in real time, and work through emerging challenges. You will also partner with support teams on improvement initiatives and join planning discussions that connect your building's results to broader RSR network goals. Our buildings operate 24 hours a day, and this position may require nights and/or weekends.

About the team

Rural Super Rural (RSR) sits within Amazon's Last Mile network, focused on delivering packages to customers in rural and less densely populated areas. These regions present unique operational challenges that require thoughtful planning and strong execution to maintain speed and reliability. Our network is growing, and our team is powered by a combination of delivery partners, technology, and the frontline teams who bring the customer experience to life every day. If you are excited about leading an entire building and making a direct impact on how customers receive their orders, we would love to hear from you.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of employee and performance management experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience

  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience
