Position Summary

SUNY Geneseo is dedicated to providing students equal and comprehensive access to college-wide programs, services, and campus facilities. The Office of Accessibility Services ( OAS ) coordinates reasonable accommodations to ensure full participation and equal access for students with disabilities.

The OAS is seeking an individual to join their team and serve as an Access Counselor. This individual would work with the OAS team to facilitate access to courses, programs, services, and activities for students with disabilities. They would also provide direct support to students, as well as increase awareness and education about disability and inclusion campus-wide. This is a 10-month, full-time position.

*This is a 10 month position that has a non-obligation period during the months of January and July.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to persons with disabilities, including the ADAA , Section 504, and the NYS Human Rights law.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working environment

  • Candidates for this position must be eligible to work in the United States. VISA sponsorship is not offered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • Experience in the higher education setting working with individuals with disabilities

  • Demonstrated leadership in a higher education setting

  • Review student documentation and self-report of disability barriers and history of accommodations

  • Engage in consultation with faculty and staff and treatment providers, when necessary

  • Determine reasonable accommodations required for equal access
