This position assists with academic instruction, classroom management, supervision, and care routines to ensure each child's social, emotional, and academic development.\ \ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.\ \ CRITICAL SKILLS 1. Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. 6. Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and staff information. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assist the classroom teacher in implementing daily lessons, activities, and centers in all Kindergarten curriculum areas. 2. Work with individuals or small groups of students to reinforce instruction or practice skills. 3. Support students in developing independence, social skills, and positive behavior. 4. Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and during arrival/dismissal. 5. Prepare instructional materials, organize classroom supplies, and maintain learning centers. 6. Assist with assessment and documentation of student progress as directed by the teacher. 7. Support students with self-help needs (e.g., putting on coats, tying shoes, toileting assistance if required). 8. Promote and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. 9. Communicate professionally and positively with students, staff, and families. 10. Participate in staff meetings and professional learning/development as assigned. 11. Accompany children on educational trips outside the classroom with a teacher. 12. Supervise classroom activity when the teacher is out of the room. 13. Supervising various activities (as assigned by the teacher). 14. Perform other duties as determined by the teacher or building principal.
