Full job description
At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.
The Client Security & Protocols Engineering (CSPE) team is part of Consumer Product Security & Trust (CPST), which is responsible for securing the Netflix consumer product and defending against fraud and abuse. CSPE secures Netflix from client to edge, spanning client-stack security, device identity, and secure protocols across Consumer Electronics (CE) devices, mobile platforms (iOS and Android), automotive and browsers. Partnering with client and platform teams, CSPE builds robust security capabilities into our consumer products.
This role will join a diverse group of security software engineers engaging across the company and industry. Across all consumer devices for streaming, ads, games, and live events, you will help secure Netflix's client applications and secure transport. Bringing an attacker mindset, you will validate controls and ensure the integrity of security capabilities from client to edge.
As a leader for this team, you will use your strong technical expertise combined with that of the team in the areas of:
- Set the strategy and technical direction for foundational security capabilities spanning client-stack security, client-stack identity, cryptography, authentication, authorization, and secure transport.
- Guide the design and delivery of security integrations and protections across mobile devices, browsers, game consoles, televisions, set-top boxes, operating systems, and applications.
- Direct client vulnerability assessment, management, and remediation across all Netflix client ecosystems.
- Build strong partnerships with product, client, platform, and security teams across Netflix and the security industry to evaluate new initiatives, identify risks, influence standards, and deliver pragmatic, durable protections.
Desired skills and background
- Experience managing, growing, and supporting a team that includes both early-career and tenured software engineers in a highly dynamic environment.
- Technical background in device security, client application security, or closely related security domains.
- Experience working directly on consumer products and making thoughtful tradeoffs between security, user experience, product goals, and engineering complexity.
- Strong communication skills to translate detailed technical concepts or business context for non-technical stakeholders
