Full job description

Eaton is hiring a Director, Internal Audit to lead a global Financial and Operational (FinOps) Internal Audit portfolio aligned to assigned businesses, regions, and enterprise processes, primarily in Electrical Sector Americas.

This leader will develop and execute a risk-based assurance and advisory portfolio that evaluates financial reporting, operational, compliance, and enterprise risks; strengthens internal controls; and delivers clear, actionable insights to senior leadership.

As a key member of the Internal Audit leadership team, the Director will build trusted relationships with business and functional leaders, maintain connectivity to strategic priorities and emerging risks, deploy resources flexibly across the global audit plan, and develop a high-performing team with broad enterprise exposure.

Job Responsibilities

  • Internal Audit Leadership: Serve as a key member of the Internal Audit leadership team, helping establish the function's strategy, annual priorities, operating rhythm, talent agenda, and continuous improvement roadmap.

  • Stakeholder Leadership: Own relationships with senior leaders across assigned businesses, regions, and enterprise processes. Maintain connectivity to business strategy, operating priorities, transformation initiatives, acquisitions, capacity expansion, and emerging risks.

  • Risk-Based Audit Portfolio: Develop and execute a global, risk-based portfolio of financial, operational, compliance, and advisory audits informed by enterprise risk assessments, business priorities, regulatory developments, and historical control issues.

  • Audit Execution: Direct audit planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up activities to ensure engagements are timely, high quality, business relevant, and consistent with Internal Audit standards and methodologies.

  • Executive Insights & Remediation: Translate complex financial, operational, and control findings into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership. Connect individual findings to broader enterprise themes and influence sustainable remediation and process improvement.

  • Strategic Advisory: Provide advisory support for significant business initiatives, transformations, acquisitions, and other strategic priorities while maintaining Internal Audit's independence and appropriate assurance coverage.

  • Risk & Assurance Coordination: Partner with SOX, Enterprise Risk Management, Ethics and Compliance, Controls Compliance and Advisory, Information Technology Audit, Cybersecurity, Legal, and external audit teams to align risk coverage and minimize gaps or unnecessary duplication.

  • Global Resource Management: Deploy audit resources flexibly across teams and geographies based on risk, complexity, business priorities, workload, and employee development objectives.

  • People Leadership: Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing global team through goal setting, performance management, coaching, succession planning, timely feedback, and meaningful experiential development opportunities.

  • Digital Audit & Analytics: Champion the use of data analytics, artificial intelligence, AuditBoard, and other digital capabilities to strengthen risk identification, audit execution, reporting, and productivity.

  • Functional Excellence: Monitor audit execution, remediation plans, resource utilization, and key performance indicators. Represent Internal Audit in governance forums and lead department-wide initiatives that strengthen the effectiveness and impact of the function.

  • Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and the interdependencies among financial, operational, and technology-enabled controls.

  • Broad business acumen and experience operating within complex, global organizations, including manufacturing, acquisitions, supply chain, business transformations, and regulatory environments.

  • Experience leading global teams and working effectively across diverse business, cultural, and regulatory environments.

  • Experience with data analytics, visualization, artificial intelligence, financial and accounting applications, enterprise resource planning systems, and audit management technology.

  • Experience with AuditBoard or comparable audit, governance, risk, and compliance platforms.
