Full job description

Job Title: Fabrication Weld Technician

Classification: Hourly

Department: Fabrication

Reports to: Supervisor / Foreman

Position Summary:

Fabricate new production related items for the Forging and EP departments by means of welding (MIG). Associates will also repair these production related items.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify integrity of data through the confirmation of sign offs on process documentation.

  • Maintain sanctity of the workspace through the enforcement of 5s principles.

  • Maintains safe operations by following safety procedures and regulations.

  • Cut, shape, and trim material to specified lengths or shapes utilizing grinders, iron worker, and other various hand tools.

  • Read blueprints to build various items.

  • Inspect all items for various defects.

  • Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements (PM), troubleshooting minor maintenance issues, and calling for repairs.

  • Accomplishes departmental goals by taking ownership of the welding process.

  • Perform other duties as needed.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Ability to perform all assigned tasks, work independently, and complete work on schedule.

  • Follow Supervisors/Foreman direction while displaying cooperative and positive behavior with co-workers.

  • Ability to develop and execute detailed daily plans.

  • Strong Problems solving skills and efficient management of time and resources.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in welding or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Prior experience in metals manufacturing/fabrication environment.

  • (3-5) Years experience in welding or related field.

  • Previous welding experience (operation/programming).

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Sit/Stand/Walk 8 hrs./day.

  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.

  • Monday – Friday

  • Willing to work in hot/humid, cold and noisy manufacturing environments.
