A Snapshot of Your Day
Join Siemens Energy as a Senior Project Engineer and lead integrated engineering coordination for large or highly complex station projects from design through construction, commissioning, and handover. You’ll bring multidisciplinary teams, clients, and suppliers together, drive resolution of challenging technical interfaces, and connect engineering decisions with commercial priorities and field execution. Operating independently within delegated authority, you’ll coordinate engineering scope and deliverables, address changes and engineering budget impacts with project and commercial management, and guide Project Engineers and Associate Project Engineers supporting project delivery.
How You’ll Make an Impact
-
Lead integrated engineering coordination: Lead multidisciplinary engineering coordination for large or highly complex station projects, aligning engineering teams, project management, and clients on technical requirements, responsibilities, and delivery priorities. Drive resolution of cross-discipline interfaces and critical open issues, coordinate the contributions of supporting Project Engineers and Associates, and escalate decisions beyond delegated authority.
-
Lead technical coordination of equipment procurement and design: Align procurement, engineering specialists, and suppliers on equipment specifications, scopes of work, and interfaces across major equipment packages. Lead coordination of technical proposal evaluations, design reviews, and equipment testing, bringing together specialist input to address supplier deviations and confirm alignment with project requirements.
-
Lead engineering quality and documentation coordination: Plan and coordinate technical and cross-discipline reviews across project deliverables. Drive closure of conflicting feedback and unresolved interfaces, and coordinate readiness for engineering release while retaining discipline-specific technical review and approval responsibilities. Keep engineering records aligned across design, supplier, and field activities.
-
Coordinate engineering changes, effort, and budget impacts: Lead assessment of engineering changes with discipline leads and evaluate their implications for scope, schedule, interfaces, and delivery. Work with project and commercial management to forecast engineering effort, review budget impacts, and develop coordinated recommendations so decisions reflect technical and commercial priorities.
-
Lead engineering support for construction and commissioning: Lead coordination of engineering responses to complex site issues and technical escalations. Align field teams, engineering specialists, and suppliers on recommended solutions, communicate implications for project execution, and coordinate incorporation of approved changes into drawings and technical information.
-
Lead engineering closeout and handover: Establish engineering closeout priorities and coordinate engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to resolve outstanding interfaces and capture final project changes. Drive completion of as-built documentation and engineering handover information to support transition to the client and warranty support teams.
What You Bring
-
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience in substation design or construction, power systems, or a comparable engineering or project delivery setting, including leadership of complex multidisciplinary work and technical interfaces. A background exclusively in substation design is not required. Familiarity with or experience working with air-insulated switchgear (AIS) and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) equipment is a plus.
-
Preferred experience: Experience in an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) environment is a plus.
-
Professional licensure: A Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus but is not required.
-
Communication and coordination: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to align clients, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams, navigate conflicting priorities, resolve disagreements, and provide clear direction on complex projects.
-
Technical judgment and problem-solving: Ability to evaluate technical and project execution trade-offs, engage discipline specialists, and drive resolution of complex interfaces within delegated authority. Success in this role requires interpersonal and leadership skills as well as technical knowledge.
About the Team
You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project management, clients, suppliers, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams. The team connects technical requirements with project execution needs across design, procurement, field work, and handover. Together, you will coordinate reviews, resolve open technical questions, and keep drawings and project records accurate and current. You will also partner with commercial management to help make engineering changes and budget impacts visible. As projects close out, you will help capture lessons learned and share practical insights with design teams and the wider engineering group.
