Schedule: FT /Mon - Fri 7:30 am - 4pm, on call required
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position monitors, operates and maintains combined heat and power plant, chilled water, high temperature hot water systems, connected co-generation equipment & controls and fuel storage tanks Accountabilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

Operates and coordinates the service and repair of stationary power plant equipment including gas turbine, high voltage electrical distribution systems, natural gas compressor, emission control equipment, stream driven chiller, electric chillers and high-pressure steam boilers and high temperature hot water systems. Responsible for all DEP compliance of Plant Emissions and Underground Storage Tanks by documenting/ maintaining/ scheduling all required annual historical data and testing.

Monitors and responds to changes in operating conditions to maintain continuous plant performance. Supports plant operations that ensure continuous plant performance safely and efficiently. Monitors various energy management systems for the facility and works closely with third party energy provider.

Manages all activities for repairs, preventive maintenance, and project activities by planning, organizing, scheduling and controlling manpower and materials, equipment and other associated resources.

May manage personnel activities including evaluations, training, performance/productivity standards, interviewing/hiring, disciplinary actions including suspension, staff grievances and counseling, technical assistance, etc.

Coordinates and controls outside contractors in the performance of purchased services, new construction, or other building trades work. Assures work is performed in compliance with Life Safety and all other regulatory requirements and in conformance with hospital standards and practice. Supports contractors with required utility shutdowns and interfacing of existing systems. Plays an integral role in promoting a seamless integration of construction requirements and facility staff involvement.

Oversees daily manpower schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all routine and emergency conditions and coordinates activities with other trades and departments to eliminate conflicts.

Provides leadership, guidance and direction to staff for issues or problems that arise for off shift, weekends, and holidays.

Prepares and assists Asst. Director in preparing annual minor capital and expense budgets. Monitors monthly expenditures to ensure Central Utility Plant operates within allocated budgetary allowances

Work with Dept Scheduler/ Planner to ensure all preventive maintenance and regulatory tasks are completed.

Use of the CMMS system to enter and track work orders and PM'S
Education/Experience Req Pref Education Level Major/Area of Study And/Or Experience Experience

Associate's degree (PREFERRED) or equivalent experience in Healthcare/Hospital/Central Utility Plant experience.

8+ years Eight (8) years of Plant Engineering/Maintenance experience. (REQUIRED)
-
5+ years Five (5) years of craft/trade skills. X 3+ years 3-5 years of Supervisor/Administration experience. (REQUIRED)

Familiarity with DOH, JCAHO, OSHA, DER, NFPA, etc. (PREFERRED)

Five (5) years' experience in hospital engineering and maintenance. (PREFERRED)
