Description

Summary:

The Branch Expansion Execution Leader is part of the Retail Enablement and Execution team and owns Huntington's enterprise framework for preparing, launching, and stabilizing newly built branch locations. This leader works directly with regional, district, branch, and market leadership teams to build the capability, partnerships, routines, and field execution required to accelerate consumer and business household growth. Through hands-on training and coaching before, during, and after launch, the role brings expectations to life while preparing local leaders to assume full ownership of long-term performance, risk, and market execution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Expansion Strategy & Readiness

  • Own and continuously improve Huntington's enterprise branch expansion execution framework, including readiness standards, launch expectations, tools, routines, and measures of success.

  • Lead market readiness and alignment with Regional Presidents, Retail Regional Managers, District Managers, Branch Managers, Physical Distribution, and key enterprise partners.

  • Identify readiness gaps, clarify ownership, and drive actions required to prepare the leadership team, branch colleagues, and market for launch.

  • Leadership Training & Capability Building

  • Serve as the subject-matter expert for new branch execution and provide advanced training that prepares leaders and colleagues to build a customer base from the ground up.

  • Partner with Onboarding and Development to shape differentiated learning, reinforce required training, validate practical readiness, and address capability gaps.

  • Train and coach local leaders on readiness and partner meetings, differentiated leadership routines, performance expectations, and ongoing colleague development.

  • In-Market Execution & Coaching

  • Provide hands-on field leadership before, during, and after launch, working knee to knee with teams to demonstrate expectations and turn strategy into consistent behaviors.

  • Coach and model prospecting, cold calling, community engagement, centers-of-influence development, business outreach, joint calling, pipeline management, and local brand building.

  • Observe execution, provide real-time feedback, remove barriers, and establish clear actions and accountability with regional, district, branch, and market leaders.

  • Growth, Stabilization & Transition

  • Monitor early consumer and business household growth, pipeline activity, partner engagement, leadership routines, and execution against the market growth plan.

  • Lead targeted intervention when readiness or performance gaps emerge and apply field insights to strengthen future branch expansion strategies.

  • Maintain focused support through the defined stabilization period and transition primary execution ownership to local leadership once sustainable routines and capability are established.

  • Partner & Community Activation

  • Align Retail with Business Banking, Mortgage, Wealth, Insurance, Marketing, Community Development, Physical Distribution, and other partners around shared market opportunities and ownership.

  • Prepare teams to build relationships with small businesses, employers, centers of influence, local organizations, and community partners that support household growth and market awareness.

  • Capture and share best practices across the Retail Enablement and Execution team and the broader branch expansion portfolio.

  • Risk Ownership & Operational Excellence

  • Reinforce that everyone owns risk through strong branch operations, adherence to policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer-focused conduct.

  • Incorporate risk and control expectations into readiness, training, coaching, and field execution; identify and escalate gaps as appropriate.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years' proven leadership experience in retail banking, sales management, market growth, or a related field.

  • Experience leading execution, developing leaders, and driving results across multiple markets or large geographies.

  • Ability to travel approximately 50% across the Huntington footprint, including extended in-market engagements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and coaching skills with the ability to influence across levels and functions.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, build capability, and drive adoption through hands-on field engagement.

  • Strong operational acumen and deep understanding of retail banking sales, service, consumer growth, business banking, and risk management.

  • Experience launching new branches, entering new markets, or leading market growth and community activation strategies.

  • Ability to manage multiple launches, competing priorities, and tight deadlines in a collaborative environment.
