Summary See below for important information regarding this job. Responsibilities Directs employees engaged in various distribution processes such as receiving, picking, packing, and stowing. Evaluates work for effectiveness and the economical use of personnel, materials, and methods to meet production goals. Manages administrative duties, including approving leave, identifying training needs, and ensuring participation in management programs like safety and quality assurance. Establishes deadlines, sets priorities, and coordinates with other supervisors. Operates MHE such as forklifts (with a capacity of up to 10,000 pounds), warehouse tractors, and stock selectors. Ensures all safety and security practices are implemented and followed in accordance with OSHA and DLA standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Stands on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Duties require constant standing, turning/twisting, reaching forward, grasping, handling, eye/hand coordination; and seeing. Duties require frequent walking, bending (at waist), driving MHE, climbing stairs and steps, reaching overhead, fingering and finger dexterity, and foot/hand/eye coordination. Duties require occasional sitting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, and throwing items weighing up to 5 pounds for a distance of up to 2 feet. These duties are performed in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts items from floor height which weigh up to 40 pounds from an approximate starting height of 6 inches to an approximate ending height of 3 feet. Frequently lifts items weighing up to 40 pounds from waist level from a starting height of about 2 feet to an ending height of about 30 inches. Occasionally lifts items weighing up to 40 pounds from shoulder level from a starting height of about 4 feet to an ending height of about 6 feet. Frequently carries items weighing up to 40 pounds for a distance of 6 to 10 feet. Occasionally pushes and/or pulls items weighing up to 80 pounds for a distance of approximately 3 feet. Uses weight handling equipment or receives assistance from other workers for items heavier than 40 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works outside and inside areas that are hot, damp, cold, drafty, and poorly lighted. Subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, muscle strain, noise, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock. Wears protective clothing such as steel toed shoes, respirators, safety glasses and earplugs. Mechanized roller conveyors are often present and is a normal part of material routing and distribution. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain all appropriate state and government licenses. Drug-Free Workplace Policy The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing. Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and a six-month denial of employment with DLA from the date of the drug test. Employees in drug testing designated positions are subject to random drug testing. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or FJO being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment. You may be required to sign a "Drug Test Statement of Understanding" if you are selected for this position. The DLA drug testing panel tests for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), and opioids. ADVISORY: Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana. DLA employees are subject to Federal law and under Federal law, Marijuana is illegal.
