Summary

You will serve as a RIGGING WORKER of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.

Duties

  • You will assist riggers and crane operators in weight handling operations involving overhead cranes, and material handling operations involving forklift trucks and railcar movers.
  • You will operate forklifts ranging in capacity from 6K to 50K to support crane operations and to select and move material.
  • You will perform the duties of a railroad brake operator/switcher to support railroad operations for the Major Components Division.
  • You will assist with rail operations and will receive rail movement orders from the conductor and engineer and relay orders to other members of the rail crew to ensure safe rail movements.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Edit Item ABILITY TO PROVIDE PRODUCTION SUPPORT SERVICES I have the ability to independently perform the most difficult and complex tasks including using established rigging practices, laying out, selecting, assembling, repairing, and installing weight handling gear and various standing and running rigging onto heavy loads for movement by crane or other mobile material handling equipment. Must be able to maneuver around obstructions .Must be able to understand signaling crane operators, using standard hand signals to assist in directing lifting operations. Will be performing routine lifting using equipment including shackles, chain falls, turnbuckles, wire rope slings, thimbles, hooks, beam clamps, chaffing gear or rollers to rig objects through confined spaces; repairing standard standing and running rigging. Have knowledge of figuring measurements, volumes, weights of materials and angles of tension using a general knowledge of mathematics. Must be able to read blueprints, sketches and following written and oral work instructions in the prescribed sequence.. I am considered an expert or I am consulted by other employees in difficult situations. I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks on my own initiative under general supervision including using established rigging practices, laying out, selecting, assembling, repairing, and installing weight handling gear and various standing and running rigging onto heavy loads for movement by crane or other mobile material handling equipment .Must be able to maneuver around obstructions .Must be able to understand signaling crane operators, using standard hand signals to assist in directing lifting operations.
