Full job description

Job Description NOTE: This position is offered as a hybrid role in the Seattle, WA area. You must be willing to work in office at the Nordstrom Seattle office for a minimum of 4 days per week to be considered for this position.

Nordstrom's Marketing Content Orchestration (MCO) team is looking for a curious, motivated software Engineer 2 who is eager to learn and grow to help modernize how Nordstrom creates and delivers marketing content. We build the systems behind every campaign asset across email, web, app, and paid social: product images and video, designer imagery, and copy. We replace manual workflows with automated and agentic ones so marketers can build campaigns with AI.

As a member of our team you'll work with a cross-functional group of engineers on production systems from day one. We work wherever the impact for Nordstrom is highest, so the problems we solve will change over time. Our delivery process is agent-driven, and our engineers increasingly act as orchestrators of AI agents. A hunger to solve problems, openness to working with AI, and a drive to learn and grow are the core requirements for success on our team. We are happy to teach engineers who want to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of new features and system improvements in an agile environment

  • Build and maintain APIs and services that move content and assets between content management, asset management, and campaign delivery platforms

  • Work with platforms such as AEM, Sanity, and a Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) platform, and build the in-house applications that connect them

  • Orchestrate AI agents and contribute to automation and agentic workflows that reduce manual effort for marketers

  • Participate in code review and our agent-driven delivery process, including verifying AI-generated code

  • Own your features across every stage of delivery, with a focus on quality

  • Deliver results

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industry experience as a software engineer

  • Experience with Go or Java (we are happy to teach the other)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrable ability to think critically and to solve problems

  • Hands-on experience using AI tools, in a professional or personal setting, and genuine interest in how AI changes the way engineers work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full-stack experience (our work leans backend)

  • Familiarity with managing context, memory, and prompting when working with AI tools and agents

  • Experience building cloud native software

  • Experience integrating third-party platforms or working with content or marketing technology

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
