Full job description

Member of Technical Staff (Product Engineering) Location: San Francisco Bay Area or Seattle, WA Work arrangement: Hybrid Employment type: Full-time About Freed Freed is an AI healthcare company on a mission to give clinicians more time for patients. We’re building AI-powered tools that reduce administrative work, simplify clinical workflows, and help healthcare professionals focus on what matters most: patient care. We’re a fast-moving, Series A startup looking for engineers who want to solve meaningful problems, move quickly, and take ownership of what they build. About the Role We’re looking for a Member of Technical Staff to help build the next generation of Freed’s products. This is a hands-on product engineering role for someone who combines strong technical fundamentals with exceptional product judgment. You’ll work across the stack, collaborate closely with clinicians and teammates, and turn ambiguous problems into intuitive, reliable experiences. We’re particularly excited about engineers who are resourceful, comfortable using modern AI development tools, and motivated by shipping products that make a real difference. What You’ll Do

  • Own product features end to end, from understanding clinician needs through design, implementation, launch, and iteration.

  • Build intuitive, polished user experiences using React, TypeScript, and modern web technologies.

  • Develop backend functionality, data integrations, and reliable application workflows.

  • Work directly with product stakeholders and clinicians to identify problems and validate solutions.

  • Rapidly prototype ideas using AI-assisted development tools, then refine them into production-quality software.

  • Make thoughtful technical and product tradeoffs to deliver meaningful improvements quickly.

  • Collaborate with a small engineering team while taking significant individual ownership.

  • Help shape Freed’s engineering practices, product architecture, and technical direction as we grow.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong full-stack engineering experience, including React, TypeScript, SQL, and backend development.

  • Demonstrated experience independently building and shipping meaningful products or features.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and sound engineering fundamentals.

  • Strong product intuition and an ability to simplify complex workflows.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, prioritizing effectively, and moving quickly.

  • Resourcefulness and a willingness to use AI tools to accelerate development.

  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, ownership-oriented mindset.

  • Genuine interest in Freed’s mission and improving the clinician experience.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • You’ve built polished products with limited resources or small teams.

  • You’ve worked in an early-stage startup or similarly fast-moving environment.

  • You’ve used AI-assisted prototyping or development tools to accelerate product delivery.

  • You have experience designing workflows for complex or highly regulated industries.

  • You enjoy talking to users and translating their feedback into better products.

  • You have a track record of making pragmatic decisions and shipping quickly.

Healthcare experience is helpful, but not required. Why Freed? At Freed, you’ll have the opportunity to work on meaningful problems, influence product direction, and see the impact of your work firsthand. You’ll join a team that values ownership, curiosity, thoughtful execution, and building products that genuinely improve people’s lives. We’re looking for builders who want to help shape both our technology and our company.
