The successful candidate will bring a broad understanding of transaction banking products, client needs, market dynamics, and delivery models. Key Responsibilities

  1. Transaction Banking Partnership Strategy
  • Define and maintain a partnership strategy aligned with Global Transaction Banking priorities, client needs, and growth objectives.
  • Work across all product areas including liquidity and deposits, channels, payments, trade finance, receivables and commercial cards to identify where partnerships can expand capabilities, improve client outcomes, accelerate delivery, or strengthen distribution.
  • Translate product strategies and capability gaps into a prioritized partnership roadmap, with clear objectives, sequencing, ownership, and expected business value.
  • Assess opportunities using consistent criteria including strategic fit, client value, differentiation, economics, feasibility, scalability, regulatory considerations, operational risk, and time to market.
  • Ensure partnership decisions complement product ownership and internal build priorities rather than creating fragmented or duplicative solutions.
  1. Product and Market Coverage
  • Partner with product leaders to understand business strategy, client segments, market positioning, capability gaps, delivery constraints, and external dependencies within each product area.
  • Monitor relevant market developments, competitor activity, emerging technologies including AI, regulatory changes, client expectations, and third-party capabilities across the transaction banking landscape.
  • Identify cross-product opportunities where a partner can support multiple transaction banking solutions or create value across the end-to-end client experience.
  • Create clear market scans, ecosystem maps, and executive perspectives that inform product and partnership priorities.
  1. Partner Identification and Capability Assessment
  • Proactively source and evaluate, fintechs, payment networks, technology providers, data and connectivity platforms, and other potential strategic partners.
  • Conduct structured capability assessments, due diligence, competitive analysis, and reference checks to determine strategic and operational fit.
  • Evaluate build, buy, and partner options in collaboration with Product, Technology, Architecture, Finance, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Procurement, and Operations.
  • Develop partner shortlists and recommendations that clearly connect external capabilities to defined product needs and measurable business outcomes.
  • Coordinate demonstrations, discovery sessions, proofs of concept, and client or stakeholder validation when needed to support selection decisions.
  1. Partnership Development, Negotiation and Onboarding
  • Serve as the relationship owner from initial engagement through evaluation, selection, due diligence, commercial negotiation, contracting, onboarding, and implementation planning.
  • Develop partnership structures and commercial models that align incentives, clarify responsibilities, and support sustainable value for the bank, the partner, and clients.
  • Lead negotiations across commercial, operational, technology, data, risk, compliance, service, and governance considerations.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders and decision forums to move qualified opportunities through the bank’s approval and third-party management processes.
  • Establish clear implementation plans, success measures, governance expectations, and escalation paths before launch.
  1. Partnership Governance and Lifecycle Management
  • Oversee the partnership lifecycle from onboarding through performance monitoring, issue resolution, renewal, expansion, and exit planning.
  • Establish governance forums and operating rhythms that create accountability, support timely decisions, and identify opportunities for additional value.
  • Define and monitor performance measures covering business outcomes, service delivery, financial results, risk, client impact, and strategic alignment.
  • Work with product owners to ensure partner performance and roadmap commitments remain aligned with product strategy and client needs.
  • Recommend corrective actions, renegotiation, expansion, or exit when a partnership no longer meets performance, risk, or strategic expectations.
  1. Business Cases and Value Realization
  • Build business cases and executive recommendations that connect product priorities, partner capabilities, client value, economics, implementation requirements, and risk considerations.
  • Develop commercial assumptions, cost-benefit analyses, revenue opportunities, investment requirements, and measurable success criteria for proposed partnerships.
  • Track expected and realized value, including revenue contribution, cost avoidance, speed to market, client adoption, capability improvement, and strategic benefit.
  • Provide transparent portfolio reporting on partnership status, key decisions, dependencies, risks, financial performance, and outcomes.
  1. Stakeholder Leadership and Executive Influence
  • Act as a trusted advisor to transaction banking product, sales, coverage, technology, operations, and senior business leaders on partnership strategy and external capabilities.
  • Lead cross-functional working groups and align stakeholders around partnership priorities, selection decisions, commercial terms, implementation plans, and governance.
  • Build productive relationships with internal control functions and help partners navigate the bank’s operating and risk environment.
  • Communicate complex partnership opportunities and trade-offs clearly to executive audiences, with practical recommendations and defined decisions required.
  • Represent Global Transaction Banking in relevant partner, industry, and ecosystem discussions.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • 6-9 years of experience in transaction banking, strategic partnerships, product management, business development, fintech, or related financial services roles.
  • Broad knowledge of transaction banking and corporate treasury, with experience across several of the following areas: liquidity and deposits, channels, payments, trade finance, and commercial cards.
  • Proven experience identifying, evaluating, negotiating, onboarding, and governing third-party partnerships in a complex, regulated environment.
  • Ability to understand product strategies and client needs, identify capability gaps, and translate them into actionable partnership priorities.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including partnership economics, business case development, pricing, contract negotiation, ROI assessment, and value realization.
  • Experience conducting market scans, partner assessments, due diligence, and build-buy-partner analysis.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives across Product, Technology, Architecture, Sales, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and third-party organizations.
  • Excellent executive communication, stakeholder influence, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

Preferred

  • Deep knowledge of corporate treasury needs and transaction banking market trends across liquidity, payments, trade finance, channels, and cards.
  • Experience working with fintechs, payment networks, financial institutions, treasury technology providers, data platforms, or other transaction banking ecosystem participants.
  • Understanding of bank technology, integration, data exchange, information security, resiliency, service levels, and enterprise implementation considerations.
  • Familiarity with third-party risk management, procurement, regulatory expectations, performance measurement, and partnership governance.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of strategic relationships or developing partnership strategies across multiple product areas.
  • Experience presenting recommendations and business cases to senior leadership and executive decision forums.
