We are seeking an experienced Compliance professional with a demonstrated track record of implementing and sustaining effective compliance programs and providing practical, risk-based guidance in large, complex organizations.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Lead, develop, and provide work direction to a team of compliance professionals supporting Upstream businesses in the United States and Latin America, building team capability, subject matter expertise, and a collaborative culture.

  • Partner with business and Law Function colleagues to understand business strategies, priorities, and risks and provide informed, practical compliance guidance that supports business objectives consistent with applicable laws and Chevron policies.

  • Anticipate, identify, and manage compliance risks and issues through timely, risk-based, solutions-oriented guidance on business activities and transactions.

  • Promote a strong culture of compliance by fostering an environment where individuals are committed to doing the right thing and comfortable raising concerns, and by providing relevant training and guidance that builds understanding of compliance requirements.

  • Support effective execution of the Compliance Program, including Risk Assessments, Representation Letters, Compliance Committees, and the identification, remediation, and monitoring of compliance issues.

  • Facilitate the resolution of sensitive compliance matters, including conflicts of interest and transactions involving government officials, using sound judgment and appropriate discretion.

  • Identify opportunities to innovate and simplify compliance processes and ways of working, including leveraging Copilot, AI, and other digital tools to enhance productivity and compliance outcomes while maintaining appropriate human judgment and oversight.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in corporate compliance, legal, audit, risk, investigations, or a closely related field.

  • Demonstrated experience applying compliance requirements to complex business activities and transactions and providing practical, risk-based guidance to stakeholders.

  • Working knowledge of major corporate compliance risks, with experience in one or more areas such as anti-bribery and corruption, conflicts of interest and business ethics, international trade and sanctions, U.S. antiboycott law, competition law, data privacy, investigations, or third-party due diligence.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading people, projects, or significant cross-functional initiatives and coaching or developing others.

  • Demonstrated sound judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving complex, ambiguous, or sensitive matters.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex or sensitive matters effectively with employees, functional experts, and senior business leaders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the energy industry or another multinational, highly-regulated industry.

  • Experience with compliance risk assessments, investigations, third-party risk management, compliance training, monitoring/testing, or compliance governance processes.

  • Experience using Copilot, AI, or other digital tools to improve productivity, analysis, and work quality.

  • Prior supervisory or team-lead experience.

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.
