Position Title Permanent Substitute Teacher (Secondary Grades 6-12) Required Application Type Teacher / Admin Salary/Pay Scale 175.00 Job Description The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2025-2026 School Year) Permanent Substitute Secondary Teacher (Grades 6-12) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. REQUIREMENTS: NYS Certification (relevant certification for secondary school). Certification must be from New York State. RESPONSIBILITIES: The substitute teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum. Facilitate, execute or carry out lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment. Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on available lesson plan. Job Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Strong classroom management skills.
