Full job description
This is Adyen
Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.
For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.
The Role
We’re looking for a Strategy & Program Manager to help shape the future of Adyen’s Global Operations. You’ll sit within the Strategy & Execution team and work across our core operational domains: Support, Professional Services, and Merchant Operations.
This role is for a strategic operator who connects commercial ambition, technical innovation, and operational delivery. You won’t be tracking tasks. You’ll be taking on the hardest, least-defined problems in the organization and turning them into structures that work at scale. Your focus will shift as priorities shift, so expect a broad scope and an environment that keeps changing. Your mission is to make sure that as Adyen grows, our operational engine becomes more powerful, effective, and agile.
What you’ll do
-
Solve high-complexity, systemic challenges: Take on high-stakes, ambiguous projects where no playbook exists. You’ll create the structure, define the “why,” and drive the “how,” taking undefined concepts from zero to scalable reality.
-
Design for the end-to-end customer lifecycle: Make sure a commercial idea translates into seamless Merchant Ops onboarding, a smooth Professional Services implementation, and world-class Support. You design for the customer experience and for the effectiveness of our internal teams.
-
Unblock the organization: Identify process debt and technical roadblocks that slow us down, and replace them with scalable, automated, or simplified workflows.
-
Connect global pillars: Act as the link between Adyen’s global product pillars and our operational domains, so our operations are ready before new products launch.
-
Steer with data: Use performance metrics as a roadmap for action. Spot friction early and use data-led diagnostics to guide the organization toward better ways of working.
-
Build AI into how we work: Go beyond adopting third-party tools. Re-engineer our processes, tooling, and ways of working so we scale through intelligence rather than complexity.
Who you are
-
A strategic operator with 5+ years of experience in strategy consulting, tech strategy, business operations, program management, or operations in a high-growth environment. You’ve taken complex, messy programs from concept to delivery without letting the ball drop.
-
A systems thinker who looks beyond the immediate task to platform dependencies and technical trade-offs, and who sees how a decision in one area ripples across the customer journey.
-
A problem solver who doesn’t rely on “how it’s always been done.” You break problems down to their fundamentals and build solutions that are tech-driven, friction-free, and customer-centric.
-
A strategic influencer who can navigate high-stakes discussions with senior stakeholders, bring clarity to ambiguity, and drive alignment across teams and regions.
-
Technically fluent, comfortable in a tech-first environment, and able to talk with engineers and commercial leads alike.
-
Agile and resilient: You’re comfortable in the unknown, adapt quickly when priorities change, and keep up your execution power when there’s no playbook.
What success looks like:
-
Complexity is simplified: You’ve replaced manual workarounds and technical roadblocks with simple and scalable workflows.
-
Operational agility: The organization can absorb new products, commercial growth and technical shifts seamlessly because the operational groundwork was laid months in advance.
-
Impact over activity: You are recognized as the person who unblocks the biggest hurdles, allowing our global teams to be more powerful and effective in their core roles.
Total rewards & compensation
The annual base salary range for this role is $145,000 - $180,000. Compensation is based on factors including qualifications, experience, and location. Total compensation package includes equity (RSUs), 401(k), health, dental, vision, and more.
In-office expectations
This role will either be based in our New York or San Francisco office. We're an office-first company and expect employees to work in-office at least 3 days a week on average. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while also supporting flexibility.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Adyen
We actively seek different perspectives to sharpen our ideas. Our unique culture is a product of our diverse backgrounds and experiences. No matter who you are or where you’re from, you’re welcome to be your true self at Adyen.
If you need accommodations or support during the recruitment process to perform at your best, you’ll have the opportunity to let our team know in your application. We encourage people from all backgrounds and abilities to apply.
What’s next?
Ensuring a smooth and enjoyable candidate experience is critical for us. We aim to get back to you regarding your application within 5 business days. Our interview process tends to take about 4 weeks to complete, but may fluctuate depending on the role. If you have specific time constraints, please communicate them with your recruiter, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them where possible.
