Full job description
Turn complex insurance denials into measurable financial results for a nationally recognized academic health system.
Join UVA Health’s Revenue Cycle team in a fully remote, full-time position where your coding knowledge, analytical judgment, and persistence will help secure appropriate reimbursement for services delivered. You will manage specialized coding and global denials while contributing to lower accounts receivable days, reduced aging, and stronger revenue cycle performance.
The Role
As a CBO Insurance Resolution Specialist, you will investigate and resolve denied insurance claims across assigned work queues. You will examine claim details, identify the cause of each denial, determine the appropriate resolution pathway, and take focused action through appeals, reconsiderations, payor calls, and online payor resources.
Your average day will combine independent account analysis with ongoing coordination across a supportive Revenue Cycle team. The work is fast-paced and production-focused, with priorities that may shift according to account age, value, and organizational needs.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Analyze and resolve coding, global, included, and bundled denials
-
Review assigned claims and charges for accurate, timely follow-up
-
Prepare appeals and reconsideration requests supported by relevant claim information
-
Communicate with insurance payors to clarify denial reasons and advance resolution
-
Navigate payor websites and internal systems to research claim status
-
Prioritize older dates of service, high-dollar accounts, and aging balances
-
Maintain organized documentation and continuity across assigned accounts
-
Meet established productivity and performance expectations
-
Adapt to changing work queues and assist with additional denial categories as needed
-
Apply knowledge of coding and denial processes to pursue appropriate payment
This opportunity is well suited for someone who enjoys detailed investigation, recognizes patterns across complex claims, and remains effective as priorities evolve. CPC certification and two years of related insurance denial experience are preferred.
