Cloud Backend Engineer

Location: Jersey City, NJ

Duration: Contract - 6 months

Pay Range: $75/hr - $80/hr (W2)

Interview Process: Two rounds of technical and coding assessments. Highly prefer onsite interviews with local candidates. Zoom with screen sharing for nonlocal candidates.

Job Description

We are seeking a Cloud Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in AWS cloud services, backend engineering, and data engineering and a proven ability to design, build, and operate scalable, reliable cloud-native services.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native backend services on AWS using Java and Python.

Build and optimize data pipelines and integrations leveraging Glue, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, ECS, and Cassandra.

Implement infrastructure as code with Terraform and ensure operational stability and observability.

Develop services and APIs using Spring Boot and gRPC following microservices patterns.

Apply CI/CD, resiliency, and security best practices across the software lifecycle.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions and support technical assessments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Formal training or certification in software engineering and 5+ years of applied experience.

Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operations in AWS.

Proficiency in Java and Python.

Expertise with data engineering tools and processes including Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Cassandra, and ETL.

Experience with AWS services: Glue, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and ECS.

Experience building services with Spring Boot and gRPC APIs.

Experience with distributed systems, microservices, Kubernetes, and containers.

Advanced understanding of CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.

Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code.

Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within cloud and related domains.

Preferred Skills:

AWS Solutions Architect Certification.
