Description

Our client, in the healthcare industry is in need for a detail-oriented Medical Biller/Collections Specialist to support billing and accounts receivable activities! This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can investigate claim issues, resolve denials, and maintain accurate billing records with a high degree of precision. The role also partners with operational teams to verify nurse timesheet details against billed services and ensure information is consistent across documentation and system records.

Responsibilities:

  • Review medical claims and outstanding balances to identify billing errors, denials, and payment delays requiring follow-up.

  • Investigate claim discrepancies by researching account details and correcting billing issues to support timely reimbursement.

  • Perform collection activities on unpaid or underpaid accounts and communicate with payers to move accounts toward resolution.

  • Examine denied claims, determine the cause of rejection, and prepare appropriate corrections or appeal actions when needed.

  • Compare nurse timesheets with billed services to confirm charge accuracy and alignment with supporting records, including Medicaid-related documentation.

  • Validate that account information entered in the billing system matches source documentation and resolve inconsistencies promptly.

  • Maintain organized account notes and follow-up records to ensure clear tracking of billing actions and collection status.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address billing questions, troubleshoot account issues, and improve claim accuracy.

Requirements • 2+ years of experience in medical billing, collections, or a closely related healthcare revenue cycle role.

  • Working knowledge of medical claims processing, denial management, and appeals handling.

  • Experience with hospital billing and payer follow-up activities.

  • Ability to research account issues thoroughly and apply corrective action with minimal supervision.

  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing timesheets, charge information, and supporting billing documentation.

  • Familiarity with Medicaid billing requirements and reconciliation of billed services against records.

  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate documentation and navigating billing systems effectively.
