Full job description

Engramme Visionary Explorers is our flagship fellowship for exceptional emerging talent with the curiosity, energy, and perseverance to tackle foundational problems in AI. Over six months in our offices in San Francisco, you’ll work alongside Engramme’s researchers and engineers to help build Large Memory Models. You’ll turn ideas into experiments, test assumptions, and contribute to systems designed to expand what humans and AI can remember, learn, and accomplish. We are looking for people who bring fresh perspectives, learn quickly, and sustain their focus through difficult problems.

About Engramme Engramme is a Frontier AI lab spun out of Harvard focusing on AI x Human Memory. Persistent memory is a fundamental open problem at the heart of AI. Our vision is to build models of human memory, and to endow humans with perfect and infinite memory. Before starting Engramme, the founding team has produced and commercialized extensive research in machine learning and neuro-science inspired memory models:

  • Gabriel Kreiman (CEO & Co-founder): Professor of Neuroscience and AI, Harvard Medical School. Led key research on brain memory consolidation at Harvard University.

  • Spandan Madan (CTO & Co-founder): PhD in Computer Science from Harvard, designed AI models which were commercially deployed at Adobe, Fujitsu, and Meta.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and pursue a focused research or engineering project with the Engramme team.

  • Explore how AI systems can form, organize, retrieve, and use memories.

  • Build prototypes, run experiments, and develop evaluations.

  • Share findings, seek feedback, and turn promising results into the next algorithms.

What We’re Looking For You may be an undergraduate student, Masters student or PhD student. You may be an early-career researcher, an engineer, a recent graduate, or a self-directed builder with compelling work to show. We are particularly interested in people who demonstrate:

  • Strong foundations in programming, mathematics, or a relevant scientific discipline.

  • Evidence of initiative through research, publications, software, independent projects, or other substantial work.

  • Intellectual honesty, resourcefulness, and persistence.

  • A deep interest in memory, intelligence, and technology that augments human capabilities.

Prior AI research experience is valuable, but applicants from adjacent disciplines and unconventional backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
