In this position...

The Manufacturing Digital Engineering (MDE) product line is looking for a software engineer to join our team of passionate technical specialists, software engineers, and product managers dedicated to build & support software products for our manufacturing plants worldwide.

As a key member of our Manufacturing I.T. team, you will play a critical part in shaping the future of Ford’s mobility and electrification efforts. You will be part of a team of dedicated software professionals that will help us to iteratively build and ship high-quality software products to help our customers build quality vehicles.

Within MDE, the Tooling Design & Build product team is involved in the development and deployment of applications that enable the design, engineering and production of dies and tooling related to creating stamped parts for all our vehicles. The applications are using by Manufacturing Engineering teams world-wide.

This position is hybrid with the expectation of being on-site with the team 4 days a week in Dearborn.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work as a Full Stack Software Engineer designing, developing, and supporting APIs, platforms, and services.

  • Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing, IT, manufacturing engineers, quality teams, and end users to deliver effective technology solutions.

  • Develop Spring Boot/Java APIs and microservices using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.

  • Develop and maintain Angular web applications on GCP.

  • Build and integrate REST APIs and microservice architectures to support scalable solutions.

  • Troubleshoot production issues and support application performance and reliability.

  • Deliver software using TDD, CI/CD, and established engineering best practices.

  • Partner with Product Managers, Product Designers, and Software Engineers to define solutions and deliver production-ready user stories.

You'll Have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience developing front-end applications, preferably using Angular, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

  • 2+ years of experience developing back-end REST APIs, preferably using Java and Spring Boot.

  • Experience with document-based and NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB.

  • Understanding of software engineering best practices, including:

  • Agile software development methodologies.

  • Version control systems for source code management.

  • Unit testing and code validation.

  • Software craftsmanship principles and clean-code practices.

  • Experience with tools such as SonarQube, SonarLint, and GitHub Copilot to improve code quality and accelerate development.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global teams.

Even Better, You May Have...

  • Experience within a manufacturing environment, particularly Manufacturing Quality, consumer product audits, or legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure, or AWS.

  • Experience deploying applications using Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.

  • Familiarity with DevOps and software security tools such as Tekton, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Fossa, Cycode, and GitHub.

  • Experience with application monitoring and production support.

  • Experience working independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams on end-to-end integration, testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.

  • A passion for staying current with emerging open-source technologies and contributing to technical direction while maintaining a customer-focused mindset.

This position is a salary Grade 6, with a range of $85,400–$143,200 ,

This position is a salary Grade 7, with a range of $99,600–$166,600 .

Final salary grade will be determined based on the candidate's skills and experience. Base salary will be established within the applicable range based on job scope, responsibilities, and competitive market value.
