Position Summary The Senior Configuration Manager leads complex work across the end-to-end Customizations lifecycle, from discovery, analysis, and solution definition through configuration, testing, release, maintenance, and enhancements. The role delivers scalable customization solutions that support the Aetna Health member experience across ACC, non-ACC plan sponsors, Book of Business, and Joint Ventures.

This role translates business and member experience needs into actionable solutions; manages content and configuration updates across content management systems and internal applications; and partners across Product, Implementation, Engineering, Search, Content, Legal, and other stakeholders to support quality, governance, and successful delivery. The Senior Configuration Manager also identifies opportunities to improve and automate tools, processes, and reporting as customization volume and complexity grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery and analysis for complex customization requests, clarifying business needs, scope, dependencies, risks, and recommended solutions.
  • Manage assigned work from intake and prioritization through configuration, testing, release, production validation, maintenance, and enhancement.
  • Translate business requirements into clear functional requirements, acceptance criteria, configuration plans, and implementation-ready documentation.
  • Configure and maintain Aetna Health member experience customizations, including content, banners, images, links, program recommendations, and global search functionality for plan sponsor point solutions.
  • Author, update, and govern content in Contentful and other content management systems in alignment with established standards and approval requirements.
  • Coordinate with Implementation Managers and cross-functional partners to support customer needs, delivery readiness, and effective handoffs across the customization lifecycle.
  • Lead testing and production validation activities, troubleshoot content and configuration issues, and drive cross-functional resolution of defects and upstream or downstream dependencies.
  • Manage sprint-board assignments, priorities, status, risks, decisions, and delivery commitments through daily intake, scrum, and planning activities.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, governance standards, operational reporting, and reusable guidance for customization work.
  • Identify, recommend, and help implement process, tooling, and automation improvements that increase quality, consistency, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and subject-matter expertise to teammates and stakeholders on customization capabilities, processes, standards, and delivery considerations.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in digital product, configuration management, implementation, or a related discipline, applying strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, and communication skills to manage complex work and translate business and technical concepts for diverse stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of experience leading end-to-end feature analysis and digital application customizations, including discovery, requirements definition, solution design, configuration, testing, release, troubleshooting, production support, and cross-functional dependency and issue resolution.
  • 3+ years of experience developing functional requirements, acceptance criteria, process documentation, operational reporting, or governance materials.
  • 2+ years of experience authoring and managing content within Contentful or a comparable enterprise content management system.
  • Ability to work East Coast hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a healthcare organization or supporting health plan digital or member experiences.
  • Experience supporting Single Sign-On (SSO), API integrations, or other partner-connected digital experiences.
  • Experience with Contentful, Adobe Experience Manager, or other enterprise content management platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Airtable, Jira, Confluence, or similar collaboration, work-management, and feature-management tools.
  • Experience working in Agile environments, including SAFe or similar scaled delivery methodologies.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process, tooling, or automation improvements that increase quality, consistency, efficiency, or scalability.
  • Experience using AI and automation tools, including generative AI assistants, Copilot, or workflow automation platforms, to improve productivity, analysis, documentation, or operational processes.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
