Full job description

Overview

Atlassian is looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager, GTM Systems to lead our global Sales Technology (SalesTech) engineering team. In this role, you will lead a high-performing, globally distributed team of software engineers and technical partners responsible for architecting, building, and scaling Atlassian’s Go-To-Market engine. You will oversee our core Salesforce ecosystem (Sales Cloud, Experience Cloud ) and other 3rd party tools (Gong, Outreach, Linkedin Navigator, Clay etec) and the surrounding full-stack microservices and event-driven data integrations connecting Commerce, Marketing, and Billing platforms. This role requires a unique blend of deep Salesforce architectural expertise, modern full-stack software engineering practices, and proven people leadership to deliver resilient, revenue-critical systems at enterprise scale.

Responsibilities

People & Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a globally distributed team of full-stack software engineers, Salesforce developers, and integration specialists.

  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, accountability, and operational hygiene.

  • Manage sprint planning, capacity forecasting, and resource allocations across strategic foundation programs, new product introductions (NPIs), and operational support (BAU / Disturbed rotation).

  1. Technical Architecture & Engineering Ownership
  • Set the architectural vision and engineering standards across the Salesforce platform, custom full-stack applications, and backend microservices.

  • Drive the stabilization and re-architecture of mission-critical data flows—specifically, Commerce Control Plane to Salesforce—ensuring high reliability and zero data loss/duplication.

  • Champion modern full-stack development practices, automated testing frameworks, and robust CI/CD deployment pipelines (SFDX, Bitbucket Pipelines, AWS).

  • Lead design reviews, API contract definitions, and architecture governance across 20+ interconnected enterprise systems.

  1. GTM & Business Partnership
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Solution Architects, Technical Program Managers (TPMs), and Sales Operations leaders to translate complex revenue strategies into scalable technical solutions.

  • Drive foundational initiatives supporting new pricing and business models (Usage-Based Pricing, Ramp Deals, Enterprise Licensing/ELAs, Quoting platforms, Partner Central).

  • Maintain proactive observability and alert monitoring to mitigate ACV revenue leakage, entitlement sync issues, and operational bottlenecks.

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications) Core Experience

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience in enterprise B2B SaaS environments, with at least 4+ years of direct people management experience leading engineering teams of 15+ members.

  • Proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale Quote-to-Cash, Lead-to-Opportunity, Deal Modeling/CPQ, Entitlements, and Renewals workflows.

Salesforce Expertise

  • Deep architectural and hands-on knowledge of the Salesforce platform (Sales Cloud, Experience Cloud / Partner Communities).

  • Mastery of Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Platform Events, Flow automation, SOQL/SOSL, and governor limit optimization.

  • Solid understanding of Salesforce security models, OWDs, permission set architectures, and multi-org/environment release management.

  • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Application Architect, System Architect, Platform Developer II) are strongly preferred.

Full-Stack & Backend Engineering Depth

  • Strong technical background in modern backend and full-stack development using languages and frameworks such as Java (Spring Boot), Node.js, React/TypeScript, or Python.

  • Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS/SNS, message queues, webhooks).

  • Strong relational database design, data modeling, and query optimization skills (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and serverless services on AWS (Lambda, ECS, S3, API Gateway).

  • Hands-on knowledge of enterprise integration platforms and middleware (Workato, or custom microservice pipelines).

Leadership & Mindset

  • Architecture-First & Proactive Mindset: Ability to balance tactical operational fixes (HOT/incident mitigation) with long-term, scalable system simplifications.

  • Exceptional Communication: Clear, executive-level communication skills to present technical trade-offs to business stakeholders and bridge gaps across global teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with subscription management and billing platforms (e.g., Zuora, Oracle Fusion).

  • Experience integrating with marketing automation tools (Marketo, Contentful, Outreach/Gainsight).

  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and conversational/agentic automation platforms.
