Summary
As a Senior Congressional Liaison Specialist at the GS-0301-14, you will be part of the Legislative Affairs Division, Office of Communications and Legislative Affairs, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). If selected, you will be responsible for reviewing and assisting higher level staff members in researching legislative regulations and policies.
Duties
- Provides managerial and professional advice to the Legislative Affairs Director and Principal Director on the operations of the Commission's District Office and Headquarters Congressional and White House Correspondence Program.
- Recommends, develops, plans, and implements Commission-wide legislative affairs programs, including legislative liaison activities, issue briefs, legislative research, congressional briefings, hearings, and initiatives.
- Serves as a policy advisor to the Legislative Affairs Director and Principal Director on Title VII, the Equal Pay Act, the ADEA, Section 501 of the Rehabilitation Act, the ADA, and other equal employment opportunity laws and policies.
- Provides legislative expertise and guidance to the Legislative Affairs Director and Principal Director and other senior staff on legislative matters affecting the Commission.
- Identifies and recommends opportunities for the EEOC to establish or expand its legislative presence and strengthen relationships with congressional stakeholders.
- Communicates Commission policies, legislative priorities, and related guidance to Headquarters and Field Office personnel.
Qualifications
For the GS-14: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have: Experience providing advice and recommendations to senior leadership on administrative programs, policies, operations, and strategic initiatives to support organizational goals and mission objectives. Experience leading, coordinating, and evaluating agency-wide programs, projects, or initiatives, including developing policies, analyzing operational issues, and recommending improvements. Experience conducting comprehensive research, analysis, and evaluation of administrative policies, procedures, and programs to identify trends, assess impacts, and develop solutions for leadership decision-making. Experience managing cross-functional initiatives, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and preparing executive-level briefings, reports, correspondence, and recommendations on program matters. Knowledge of the legislative process in the US Congress. Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level.
