Full job description

Description

The North American Network Design, Planning, & Engineering (NDPE) Containerization Strategy & Engineering (CS&E) team aims to develop novel containerization strategies and network-level sortation capabilities to increase capacity, reduce cost via touches reduction, and maximize delivery speeds through cycle time optimization. The CS&E team partners with stakeholders across business-unit specific engineering teams, Amazon Robotics, WWDE, and many others in order to align a vision for the future state of pre-sortation and containerization throughout the multi-fulfillment delivery network (MFN).

The Senior Supply Chain Manager will own a program or series of programs aimed at transforming the way 1P packages and containers are handled throughout our delivery network. The successful SCM will have experience managing highly visible and cross functional initiatives, driving strategic alignment across a diverse group of stakeholders and motivations, and a high drive towards identifying E2E wins and analyzing associated business impacts to present streamlined business cases for investment.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will own the strategy and design of a large-scale transportation and sortation network. You'll turn complex data into decisions that lower cost and speed up delivery for customers.

  • Lead the design and rollout of new outbound network models, using data to show their cost and speed advantage over the current network.

  • Build and own profitability models that show which sortation capacity earns its cost across regions and business lines. Use the results to shape facility design standards.

  • Develop capital plans and business cases for new and expanded sites, and defend them with finance and operations leaders.

  • Design and run pilots that test new dispatch strategies, then scale what works.

  • Define, track and report core metrics, including transportation cost per package and network performance against plan.

  • Partner with data scientists, engineers, finance and field operations to turn models into plans people can carry out.

  • Write clear recommendations and present them to senior leadership.

  • Mentor teammates and raise the bar on analytical rigor and modeling standards.

About the team

The GTS Network Design, Planning, & Engineering team focuses on both near term and long term 1P requirements that enable capacity growth, cost reduction, faster speed, better quality and greater sustainability in our transportation network. While we have specific targets to deliver, our team operates with limited boundaries that requires us to lead large cross organizational initiatives, and identify, pilot, and deploy new opportunities that deliver results. We are a collection of engineers, PMs, BIEs/DSs, and supply chain leaders that use our technical and operational expertise to provide direction for the future requirements of the transportation network to continuously deliver on behalf of our customers.
