Full job description

Welcome to the intersection of energy and home services. At NRG, we’re driven by our passion to create a smarter, cleaner and more connected future.

Vivint Smart Home, an NRG owned company, is a leading smart home company in the United States, dedicated to redefining the home experience with intelligent products and services. We find purpose in proactively protecting and keeping our customers connected to home, no matter where they are. Join the Smart Home team to create smarter, safer and more sustainable homes.

About the Role

We’re looking for a mid-level UX Designer who combines thoughtful problem-solving with strong visual design craft. You’ll join Vivint’s Brand & Digital Design team and partner with the Senior UX Designer, marketing stakeholders, and developers to improve how customers learn about Vivint, explore products, and build and purchase their smart home systems.

You’ll own defined projects from discovery through developer handoff, translating customer needs and business goals into clear user flows and polished interfaces. You should be comfortable working independently on assigned work, seeking feedback at the right moments, and refining designs based on research, data, and implementation constraints.

What You'll Do

  • Design responsive experiences for Vivint’s marketing website and ecommerce journeys, including landing pages, product pages, package selection, cart, and checkout.

  • Translate customer needs, business requirements, and project briefs into user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and interactive prototypes.

  • Identify usability issues and opportunities through customer feedback, usability testing, analytics, and collaboration with partners.

  • Design clear navigation, content hierarchy, interactions, and interface states across desktop and mobile, with accessibility considered throughout.

  • Partner with the Senior UX Designer, marketing stakeholders, copywriters, and developers to align solutions with customer needs and business goals.

  • Use and contribute to Vivint’s design system, including reusable components, patterns, and documentation that support consistency across web experiences.

  • Present design decisions clearly, incorporate feedback thoughtfully, and communicate progress, tradeoffs, and dependencies.

  • Prepare organized Figma files and developer-ready specifications; partner with developers through implementation and review the built experience for design quality.

  • Manage defined projects and deadlines independently, with guidance from the Senior UX Designer and design leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A portfolio demonstrating UX thinking, strong interface design, and your process from problem definition through final solution.

  • At least 2 years of relevant professional UX/UI design experience, including in-house, agency, or freelance work, with the ability to carry defined digital projects from discovery through design and handoff.

  • Proficiency in Figma, including auto layout, components, variants, and interactive prototyping.

  • Proficiency with AI tools to explore concepts, generate and refine interface ideas and prototypes, and streamline design workflows while applying sound UX judgment.

  • An understanding of user-centered design, responsive behavior, accessibility, information architecture, and interaction design.

  • Strong visual design skills in typography, layout, hierarchy, and brand application, with attention to detail across interface states.

  • A collaborative approach, openness to feedback, and the ability to explain design decisions and work through constraints with stakeholders and developers.

  • Good organization, time management, and communication skills, with the ability to balance customer needs, business goals, and delivery timelines.

  • A college degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent professional UX/UI design experience demonstrated through a strong portfolio.

  • No professional certifications required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing ecommerce, product discovery, configuration, or checkout experiences.

  • Experience contributing to design systems and reusable component libraries.

  • Experience planning usability tests, interpreting analytics, or designing experiments to improve digital experiences.

  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and how design decisions translate into web implementation.

Portfolio

Please include a portfolio with your application. We’d like to see the problems you worked on, your process and design decisions, the role you played, and what you learned from the results.
