Job Description
Long Term Subs (LTS): A properly certified per diem substitute who works for the same teacher for 21–89 consecutive days is classified as a Long-Term Substitute. LTS pay begins on the first day of the assignment. Once the assignment ends, compensation reverts to the standard per diem rate.
-
LTS pay does not apply when substituting for a Teaching Assistant, covering only part of a teacher’s scheduled day, or when the substitute does not hold certification in the same subject area as the teacher.
-
LTS positions are determined by a teacher being on an approved Leave of Absence (LOA) for 21 working days or more, OR; in the case of an unexpected extended absence of a teacher, once the sub hits the 21st consecutive day, the LTS pay will be paid retroactively back to day one of the assignment.
-
In the event of a break in service during the assignment, the pay rate will revert to the per diem rate until 21 consecutive days are completed. After 21 consecutive days are worked, retroactive LTS pay will be issued effective from the beginning of that 21-day period.
