Requirements

Senior Operations Technology Specialist: This is where you come in.

We’re looking for a Senior Operations Technology Specialist to design, develop, maintain, and optimize the technology systems that support our construction operations—from Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) through Fabrication and Field Installation.

This role blends software engineering, solution architecture, construction technology, and technical leadership. Success requires more than writing code: you’ll evaluate operational challenges, make sound technology decisions, build sustainable solutions, and mentor developers while delivering reliable software.

You’ll partner with VDC, Fabrication, Field Operations, Engineering, Estimating, IT, and software vendors to eliminate manual work, improve data quality, and connect systems across the project lifecycle.

Top deliverables in the first year to be a hero:

  • Establish a sustainable technical strategy. Assess existing systems, prioritize improvements, and define architectural standards that balance immediate operational needs with maintainability, flexibility, and total cost of ownership. Evaluate when to use custom development, configuration changes, process improvements, or vendor solutions while avoiding unnecessary vendor lock-in.

  • Deliver reliable production software. Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of custom applications, services, APIs, and internal tools. Translate operational needs into clear requirements, implementation plans, and ongoing support models.

  • Advance Autodesk and fabrication automation. Develop custom Revit add-ins that support multiple Revit versions and evolving .NET requirements. Create and maintain Autodesk Fabrication integrations, COD scripts, and database customizations supporting Detailing across all trades and the Sheet Metal Fabrication Shop.

  • Connect platforms and put model data to work. Improve integrations among Autodesk platforms, Stratus, fabrication systems, Trimble, Azure services, Power Platform, and internal business applications. Advance model-to-Watts, model-to-Spiral, model-to-BOM, and model-to-PowerApps workflows, with clear data validation, synchronization, error handling, monitoring, and recovery procedures.

  • Strengthen development and release practices. Improve Azure DevOps repositories, branching strategies, automated testing, build and release pipelines, and deployment workflows. Establish consistent code reviews, version management, and monitoring to improve software quality and release reliability.

  • Build technical capability across the team. Mentor developers and contractors, resolve complex issues spanning VDC and operational systems, and create documentation and training resources that help Field, Shop, and Detailing teams adopt and use technology effectively.

The Senior Operations Technology Specialist, reporting directly to the Detailing Superintendent, is a vital member of a collaborative team supporting our growing business. This high-impact, high-visibility role works across departments and organizational levels to improve construction technology, project delivery, and operational performance, including healthcare-related projects and initiatives.

Your Background: What kind of person will thrive in this role?

You should have…

  • Strong Software Engineering Fundamentals: Demonstrated experience delivering and supporting production software using C#, .NET, object-oriented design, software architecture and design patterns, REST APIs, SQL Server, data modeling, and Git.

  • Desktop Application Development Experience: Proficiency with WPF, MVVM, dependency injection, and desktop application deployment.

  • Autodesk Development Expertise: Experience with the Revit API, add-in architecture, and multi-version development. Experience with Autodesk Fabrication APIs, CADmep, ESTmep, CAMduct, fabrication database administration, and COD scripting is highly desirable.

  • Construction Platform Knowledge: Experience administering, configuring, or integrating tools such as Stratus, AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Fabrication, and REJ. Direct experience connecting these tools across multiple trades is especially valuable.

  • Integration and Cloud Experience: Ability to connect applications and platforms using well-defined interfaces and reliable data flows. Experience with Azure services, Power Platform, monitoring, telemetry, and operational support is highly desirable.

  • DevOps and Delivery Skills: Experience managing Azure DevOps repositories and CI/CD pipelines for desktop applications, Revit add-ins, services, and supporting tools.

  • Technical Leadership: Ability to guide developers and contractors through architecture decisions, code reviews, troubleshooting, and project planning while establishing practical engineering standards.

  • Operational Understanding: Construction, mechanical-contracting, VDC, fabrication, or field experience is strongly preferred. Candidates without this background must demonstrate the ability to learn the environment and translate Shop, Field, and Detailing needs into workable solutions.

And everyone you work with should describe you as someone who…

  • Solves problems practically, identifying root causes and delivering reliable solutions with minimal disruption to operations.

  • Communicates clearly and proactively, translating technical concepts into useful guidance for developers, business partners, and end users.

  • Collaborates across disciplines, listening to the people doing the work and aligning technology decisions with project and business needs.

  • Thinks strategically, recognizing dependencies, evaluating tradeoffs, and choosing scalable solutions over short-term fixes that create maintenance burdens.

  • Adapts thoughtfully, evaluating emerging technologies and leading changes that produce measurable operational improvements.

  • Takes ownership, following work through implementation, documentation, training, and ongoing support.

And you should be motivated by…

  • Taking initiative and learning independently—this role is built for self-starters who identify needs and move solutions forward.

  • Turning technology into practical results that improve accuracy, reduce manual effort, and help teams deliver successful projects.

  • Developing others through mentorship, shared knowledge, and constructive technical guidance.

  • Thriving in a lean, results-oriented environment where high performance is expected and growth comes through challenge.

  • Being part of a transparent, innovative workplace that combines a supportive, family-oriented culture with a drive to improve.

Compensation: $135,000 to $175,000 Annually
