Join our Stabilization Center and provide comprehensive treatment to those affected by substance use, mental health, and other behavioral health disorders.
Pay:$28.63 per hour
Position: CASAC
Division: Behavioral Health Care
Status: Part time per diem up to 19 hours per week
Location: Herkimer, NY
Base Schedule: Part time per diem up to 19 hours per week
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center (ICSC) Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) provides the coordination and implementation of direct substance abuse clinical services for children and adults presenting to the ICSC. The Counselor is responsible for participating in and/or assigning substance abuse counseling coverage for evaluations, overseeing treatment and discharge planning, administering case conferences, conducting group therapy and leading didactic groups.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Provides short-term crisis intervention and diffusion for children and adults at the ICSC, telephonically and virtually including comprehensive crisis assessment.

Educates individuals and families related to substance use, harm-reduction, treatment and ongoing services.

Maintains accurate clinical documentation of client/ agency contacts in accordance with program policy and procedure manual.

Assumes on-duty, and administrative back-up responsibilities consistent with program needs.

Attends and actively participates in all required training, staff meetings and case conferences as required by agency administration.

Engages in supervision on a regular basis.

Provides educational/ marketing /training presentations to the community, as assigned by the Program Director.

Coordinate treatment with an interdisciplinary team.

Engages in agency/program projects or work groups as assigned by the Program Director.

Secures and maintains all necessary certification and professional licensing as dictated by profession and required qualifications.

Makes recommendation and assists in facilitating the appropriate level of treatment/services/supports.

Develops and engages clients in discharge planning for ongoing services or a higher level of care.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CASAC currently registered with the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services.
AND
- Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in the field of alcoholism/substance use services.
AND
- AAS Degree or higher in Human Services field or related field. (Extensive work experience in the field of chemical dependency plus CASAC may be substituted for a degree).
AND
- A clean and valid NYS Driver’s license.
