Full job description
Overview Microsoft.com is evolving from a content publishing channel into an AI-powered decision platform and growth engine. We are seeking a collaborative, strategic Senior Product Designer to shape customer journeys across Microsoft.com. You will translate complex product, audience, and business requirements into intuitive, cohesive web experiences across our product portfolio. Working at enterprise scale, you will lead information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, and validation across multi-page programs. You will design within the Microsoft Design System and work as a deep practitioner within it — applying and extending patterns, contributing new ones where gaps exist, and authoring the documentation that lets other teams adopt them correctly. You will collaborate with product marketing, web production, analytics, engineering, content, and design partners to connect customer needs with business goals. Success requires strong systems thinking, clear communication, sound design judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities. Applicants should provide a digital portfolio demonstrating design process, information architecture, systems thinking, UX rationale, and outcomes for websites, e-commerce, online communities, or digital products — including, where possible, component or pattern work and the documentation that accompanied it. At Microsoft, our mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more guides how we partner with customers to deliver trusted, impactful solutions. With a growth‑mindset culture, we innovate responsibly and measure success by shared progress, people, teams, and customers. Join us to do meaningful work that changes the world and helps shape what’s next for everyone.
Responsibilities
- Set and communicate a clear UX vision across assigned web customer journeys.
- Lead information architecture, navigation, wayfinding, and content hierarchy for assigned experiences.
- Translate complex products, licensing, audiences, and business requirements into clear customer experiences.
- Design and validate end-to-end journeys from awareness through enrollment or purchase.
- Partner with product marketing, content, analytics, engineering, web production, and agencies to align priorities and delivery.
- Use research and post-launch data to evaluate comprehension, wayfinding, and performance, then iterate. Design system contribution
- Design, extend, and contribute reusable components and patterns within the design system, including token application and responsible use of library architecture.
- Author and maintain clear usage guidance and documentation so teams can adopt patterns correctly without direct support.
- Identify where recurring local needs signal a system-level gap, and work with the design system team to resolve them.
- Collaborate with engineering to keep design libraries and component implementations in sync, and to make tradeoffs between design intent and technical feasibility explicit.
- Maintain accessibility and responsive behavior as first-class requirements in every component and pattern.
- Support adoption across partner teams, helping resolve conflicts between local needs and system standards.
- Raise the quality bar through strong visual, interaction, and systems design, and through constructive critique.
- Manage competing priorities across delivery commitments and system work without letting either stall.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining design system components, patterns, and tokens in Figma — including variables, variants, and library architecture — and writing the usage documentation that accompanies them.
- Experience supporting a design system across multiple independent product or marketing teams, including governance work such as contribution models, versioning, and deprecation.
- Experience designing end-to-end web journeys in complex information environments — product catalogs, taxonomies, or large content ecosystems — with demonstrated depth in information architecture and prototyping.
- Experience using research, analytics, or adoption data to improve digital experiences, and strong written and verbal skills for communicating design rationale across disciplines.
