Description

The Package Testing Senior Analyst works independently to add quantitative analysis of packaging components and materials which assures the package will contain and deliver the product during its useful life, while meeting Estee Lauder’s commitment to excellence. Senior Analysts handle the most advanced and complex projects evaluating packaging components for functionality, and package compatibility. Senior Analyst is a skilled individual contributor demonstrating collaboration, delivering sustained important contributions that impact both new or improved products, packages, devices and testing methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Strategy & Development Leadership

  • Ensure technical readiness and Right-First-Time execution for the region's top innovation and renovation programs through close collaboration with Package Development, R&D Formulation, Quality Assurance, Commercialization, and Validation Engineering.

  • Apply first-principles thinking to develop predictive methodologies that improve testing efficiency and accurately forecast package performance outcomes.

  • Actively participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (dFMEA) activities to identify risks, evaluate mitigation strategies, and support robust package development.

Package Testing & Evaluation

  • Determine appropriate testing methodologies for packaging materials and components by developing comprehensive test plans, consumer usage simulations, and risk-based validation strategies early in the development process.

  • Perform technical evaluations of packaging systems, including seal integrity, weight loss, compatibility, fill level, functionality, and overall package performance using established laboratory procedures and industry standards.

  • Develop, optimize, and validate predictive, analytical, and consumer-focused test methods that support product quality, performance, and speed-to-market objectives.

Data Analysis & Technical Recommendations

  • Utilize technical expertise gained through formal education and practical experience to analyze, interpret, and summarize testing data and experimental results.

  • Provide data-driven recommendations and clearly define next steps to support project decisions and technical risk assessments.

  • Communicate test results, observations, conclusions, and recommendations to cross-functional project teams in a timely, reliable, and scientifically robust manner.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and support root cause investigations and problem-solving initiatives related to manufacturing, quality, package performance, and functional issues.

  • Apply scientific and engineering principles to resolve complex packaging challenges and improve product reliability and consumer experience.

Innovation & Material Science

  • Research, evaluate, and report on the strengths, limitations, and feasibility of emerging packaging materials, technologies, and design concepts.

  • Investigate innovative packaging solutions to improve performance, sustainability, consumer experience, and operational efficiency.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and day-to-day leadership to junior analysts and laboratory personnel.

  • Support capability building by mentoring team members, sharing technical knowledge, and promoting best practices in package testing and material science.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Packaging Science, Material Science/ Plastics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills

  • Self motivated

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills

  • Attention to details a must

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Familiarity with MS Word, Excel
