Full job description
THIS IS A SCDPPPS INTERNAL POSTING ONLY
Plans, directs and coordinates probation and parole activities within a designated county; selects, supervises and evaluates the performance of probation and parole staff; develops and maintains effective working relationships with local law enforcement personnel, court officials and community leaders.
A bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses and experience in probation and parole work. An associate’s degree and two (2) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976. Must be currently Class-1 Law Enforcement certified. NOTE: Must be currently Class 1 (C -1) certified law enforcement officer from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. A bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, education, counseling or other social/behavioral sciences or a bachelor's degree which includes at least 15 credit hours in the aforementioned disciplines and completion of six (6) years of experience in criminal justice, counseling, or related professional human service work; four years of supervisory experience
